Your engine is still being used the world over. There are even newer ones available.

Like I said, I have no worries on finding a donor. If I was going to swap to something else though I'd be extremely tempted to go big and that would probably end badly lol.

As with Mustangs, it's more about driver stupidity/inexperience than it is the Covettes they're driving...

I don't know man. I've driven a few mustangs before of the early 2000s era including a 2003 Terminator Cobra, and for some reason it does not matter what version of Stang it has been, either IRS or SRA rear ends, the rear of them just kick out hard the moment you give them any sort of spirited throttle.

I'm not sure it is so much driver error versus a really really light rear end, or something of that nature. I will say doing all that fishtailing is really fun though. Lol.

If the only upgraded to and Eaton TruTrac. Very predictable.

There was an episode of Grand Tour on Prime where Clarkson was driving Mustang RTR spec 3 and racing against a Demon and a Camaro Exorcist...the drag strip race they do toward the end, his Mustang spins out of control every time lol. Street was wet though, but the Dodge and the Chevy didn't have that issue iirc

I wonder if it is a rear end issue then.

I had a Eaton TruTrac on my GTO... That thing was the bees knees.

He talked about it on the episode but I don't remember exactly what it was, I think it had something to do with the traction control features the other 2 cars had and the Mustang didn't.

Their traction system back then was garbage. Then again so was GMs, (early to late 2000s era) so all is fair in love and war. I'm sure both have vastly improved their "engage after you went into the embankment" control.

The Mustang RTR, Demon, and Camaro Exorcist were featured in Season 3, Episode 1. They weren't "permitted" to drag race the Demon, so the racing that happened was between the Mustang RTR and Camaro Exorcist, with Hammond watching while leaning on the Demon. I don't recall the Mustang or the Camaro spinning out on the (dry pavement) drag races.

The wet street racing I recall took place in Season 3, Episode 11 in which the Aston Martin DBS consistently spun-out on wet roads that didn't give the Bentley Continental GT or BMW M850i any trouble.

huh I must have mixed those 2 episodes up in my head, disregard my previous posts lol. Now that you mention it, I remember it being an Aston Martin they were racing in front of some famous building in Europe. Totally blended those 2 in my head, must have watched them back to back

On a related note, sucks they cancelled the show in it's original format but I'm looking forward to the new version of it whenever it comes back

Ahh yes, Aston Martin... Another fine FoMoCo product. Makes sense why it spun out everytime. :D

Ford uses a clutch type LSD in every Mustang made since 2015. They call it "trac-lok". I've never heard who makes it. They also come with launch control IIRC. Since they upgraded the suspension in... I want to say it was the gen before this, the Mustang is a very good track car. They even have an active suspension package now available on all models that's very good from what I've heard.

Edit: Funny story, it's the same active suspension made by BWI the Corvette gets, so... yeah it should be good lol.

I find a lot of people bag on the Mustang because of it's popularity. That car gets into the hands of more inexperienced track drivers than anything else. It's like watching any example of ego versus experience, experience always wins while ego finds the wall.

I have the same if not more level of respect for the Mustang as I have for any of the cheap coupe muscle cars the big three make (Camaro and Challanger) though to be fair all of them target different groups with their wide selection of packages. You wouldn't want to see a base model from any of those lineups go against an upgraded Shelby Cobra or Camaro ZL1.

I've always enjoyed a well built Mustang just as much as any other guy. My neighbor owns a 850+HP Terminator Cobra rehauled from top to bottom as of recently which runs on full E85. I remember I was hammering the throttle on the freeway one day and I saw he was behind me. I saw him start out some 1000 feet behind me, next thing I knew he screamed past me like I was standing still. It smelled like burnt corn and it was loud enough to rival Nitro funny cars. Needless to say, I am impressed with the power output and recently shot the shit with him and gave him some AFR gauge/ sensor suggestions. I actually gave him the box to the Sensor AFR sensor I have in my truck because he told me his Bosch ones kept dying. Lol. I also asked him about his cast aluminum OE tensioner. Wink wink.

My blower was installed at 17 miles, I now have upwards of 120k (odo is off because I’ve had oversized tires since 20k miles)

I have had a 2.85 pulley and upgraded fuel pump since around 35k miles.

Changed spark plugs and sc oil for the first time around 100k miles.

Full armor front to back, skids, sliders, and just finished my roll cage. 35” tires, regeared, and planning on 37’s with another regear. And the ratiotek valve body upgrade.

And I’m not easy on my truck.

My list of most important mods in order goes:
    Suspension
    Supercharger
    Regear
    Armor
    Valve body
HP Tuner (I don’t have quite yet)

Like Nike says, “just do it”
