Not new to Toyota just the Tacoma. Ive been in the debt/asset recovery business for decades and have been running across Tacomas and am looking for one for my daughter.

Live in the northern MS area west of Tupelo and do business through MS LA TX AL TN.

I do understand the trim levels and such. Just wondering if there is something to look for or avoid. She'll probably take it off road but I doubt anything hardcore. From what I have read I can eliminate the pro because everything that makes a pro would be upgraded anyway with lift and skid plates etc. I could be wrong though. Plus I don't find those too often those are normally leased and people don't seem to default on a lease agreement.

    Thx

About the only thing I would avoid is the color calvary blue. Doesn't seem to stand up to the elements as well as other colors.

There are quite a few threads on here of guys getting repaints, BBP seems to be the only problem color.

    Welcome!!

In three-ish months there are the 2020’s. If you can wait I would and test drive and see deals on 19’s. Drive will probably be identical but features could come into play.

Also, going SR5 4x4 and adding mods it always a safe bet.

If everything is going to be upgraded on a pro, you might as well get an SR5 and upgrade everything from there

Guys, he's not buying new, he is getting a repo'd one (I think).

I would look for a manual (if she can't drive one, teach her!) and a V6 rather than a 4 banger. The Off Road has a better suspension for, get this, off roading from the factory than the other trims. Other than that, they are all pretty similar.

In 2017 the electric sliding rear glass was available on most models.

In 2018 they all got the Toyota Safety Sense stuff if that is important to you and your daughter.

Not really much to look for OP, a few 17 blazing blues had clearcoat issues. Some super whites had rust problems. 3rd brake-light cover leaking on some. Some 16-17s had cps failures. The rear diff howl has a TSB along with the leaking seal. TSB for transmission shifting for 16-18.
Are there really that many people defaulting on Tacoma loans? Geesh, that’s gonna hurt resale. Sales buddy told me he just had a lady turn in her repo voluntarily, OR tundra with dealer lift kit, she was a waitress trying to make $1000 a month payments at 72 months.

She does like the blue colors but I told her the lighter metallics will show less dirt and wear especially the silver or grey

She's 6' mix with a model body and light brown/gold eyes. The LAST thing Im worried about is them driving the truck!!!

I dont know if its the Tacoma specifically. I think that most midsize truck sales have been Toyotas so it's just sheer numbers. In my experience you can't pin defaults on a specific make. Honda being the exception for some reason its very rare for me to see those.

I know Honda is really strict when it comes to financing/approval.
