Camping on night two of the Red Clay Rally. Basically just a field of thigh high grass in a small valley. Near the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. Put my Nephew in the RTT and I slept in the hammock.

I’m a bit confused looking at Tepui’s website. They say the Lo Pro is their lightest weight but then in the specs it’s heavier than the Ayer Explorer tent.

Their weight claim appears accurate for the various 3-person tents, but not for the Ayer 2 versus the Low-pro 2.

It's just standard marketing bullshit. Even with the 3-person tents, the lower weight is likely due to the ladder being packed separately, but I could be wrong.

    I haven't weighed mine.

Check boat upholstery shops. I have been to one locally for this kind of thing and they were helpful cutting odd sizes for relatively cheap.

Nice! Any comments on the GFC? Did you ever consider the Vagabond? Nice to be able to leave bedding up top when it’s closed and has room to leave the bed made and climb down.

Is this a Kamp-Rite tent? I've seen this type of thing done before however haven't heard any feedback or issues related with going this way. What are your thoughts this?

Yeah, most of my posting about the GFC can be found on these three threads :

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/hondo-garages-new-thing.516490/page-479

    Wedge Life:

Aside from that the reason I went with a GFC over a Drifter was because pickup in Montana was closer to Ohio where I live than California. The side winddoors open for easy access to the bed. I liked the look and overall build design better and it suited me more for what I like to do.

Not sure about your comment about storing bedding. I am able to close up my GFC with all bed panels in it with sleeping bags still in the camper with the new tent material and new 2” thick mattresses.

Thanks! Haven’t been keeping up with GFC for a while. I know biggest complaint before was having to make your bed and everyday cause the top wouldn’t close with bedding.

I can’t store pillows in there. Only a couple thin sleeping bags but it will still close pretty easy.

I really hated the look and quality of the fabric on the kamprite tents, so I spent a little more and got a better one. Any cot tent will do, just make sure its tightly bolted to some bars and it works fine.
