I've followed the Firefox to Chrome to Firefox/duckduckgo/incognito path. I'm so sick of the endless tracking and filter bubbles. Google's like "Oh I see you've looked at ceiling fans for your house, let me show you NOTHING but ceiling fans." Duckduckgo doesn't do that, but its results aren't as good. Google "I HAVE MORE CEILING FANS FOR YOU TO LOOK AT!" For my home searching duckduckgo is good enough, but when I'm working on technical issues google is better. Google "Maybe you're still interested in toilets, you did search that one time for toilets."

Buy a sump pump on Amazon and for the next month amazon will keep showing you sump pumps since you’ve obviously begun to collect them.

Try Oracle. That's what I use unless I have to use chrome for something.

If your tinfoil hat is really tight, you can use Brave with TOR built in.

Not sure if it is still accurate, but it used to be rumored that you would be Tagged by NSA for even searching for TOR

You can. NSA has owned TOR for at least the last 6 years. They're not hunting anything Title 18 criminal, though - they're using it for a national security Title 50 mission that has to comply with Intel Oversight laws.

Still...if they find you browsing kiddie porn then the FBI gets an email.

VPNs work, but will turn your web browsing experience into a quagmire of clicking on fire extinguishers and crosswalks......

But everyone has a burner Ubuntu machine with TOR for OPSEC, right?

    ^True dat^

As a side gig I do web development. One of my clients runs a site for women, fashion, recipes, that sort of thing. One day she calls me all pissed off that the google adwords ads were all for toilets. (Seems her contractor husband had been using her computer.) This lead to a conversation about what she wanted to do, exclude every objectionable type of ad or just let google do its thing. In the end she decided that if someone was inspired to buy a toilet after looking at a recipe she'd take the click.

Which is why I think the advertising model of paying for the internet is messed up. Since no one makes any money until someone clicks, every website, big or small is incentivized to learn every thing about you so they can get that precious click. I wish for an anonymous micropayment where you pay as you go. If my client got a fraction of a cent per article per viewer, she'd be doing ok and the site could be a lot cleaner without all the ad garbage.

If Musk mass produces these, it may be ready by 2040.

You can get one of these kits and make your Impreza into a truck

Their Beetle kit looks pretty good, better than the Beetle it's based on IMHO (not too high of a stretch I know)
