There is no laminate on the front or rear windows, if there were a razor blade would take it off, or no?

The dealer could have added tint to the front windows. It does not come tinted from Toyota.

Had my windshield tinted 60% ceramic. Huge and I mean huge difference heat wise inside the truck. Had 50% on my last vehicle and it was a tad to dark. 60% isn’t bad especially when you retrofit the headlights.

Here in Ontario that just passed a law that states that all vehicles produced after 2017 can only have tint of no more than 30%.
    Here's how the law reads.

New laws prohibit the front windshield from being tinted after market and stipulate windows to the right and left of the driver must not block more than 30 per cent of light. There will be no new limit for rear windows. only affect cars built after Jan. 1, 2017.

I've measured the factory front side windows and Toyota windows have some degree of tint. If you apply even the lightest tint you can find you will be over the 30% so the law effectively prevents tinting the the front windows. When I bought my '18 I ignored the law and tinted to match the back. Most cops in my area have tinted windows themselves so are reluctant to give out a ticket. Just make it easy and open the window so they can see what's going on in the vehicle if you get stopped.

Usually depends how you are looking at the windows. Even if you start from scratch (zero tint on all the windows) and you tint the front, rears, and back all the same. The front always looks lighter because if the light passing in from the windshield.

I would hate that too, it would drive me nuts. What percentage did you go with for the front?

I'm going to get my front side windows tinted as dark as Ohio law permits, which I believe is 50%. (Sucks, but it is what it is and I don't need a ticket. OHP is very strict.) So, if the factory tint is 75%, do I tell the installer to put on another 75%? I'm confused. In other words, if he puts on a 50% tint, would that make me illegal at 25%?

Just tell them you want it to be as dark as you can go on the sides and back, while remaining within legal limits. They can figure out the rest with their darkness meter.

Yeah, the shop has a pretty good rep so I think I can trust them to do it right. I just didn't want to sound like and idiot not knowing what I needed.

I did 15% Llumar ceramic on my fronts and it meters at 13%. I did 40% Llumar ceramic on the rear and it meters 12%.

Hmm, too much math for me. Looks like I'm gonna have to trust the installer to keep me legal. Thanks!

Just have them meter it and show you when it’s done if you need the peace of mind.
