I just got my x-act Husky Liners in for my 16 taco, the passenger side front mats have two holes for the locks in the floor but of course there aren’t any anchors on the passenger side. They included “carpet anchors” that they say to screw into the carpet to anchor them down.

The whole reason I bought these is to protect the carpet I certainly don’t want to screw into my carpet lol. Is there a way around covering the holes in the mats without using the screws? I don’t necessarily need them anchored to the carpet they hold pretty well due to the nubs on the bottom of the mats. I figure you guys would know of something to help out.

I know this is the drivers side, but I did secure the passenger side with supplied hardware with no damage to carpet.

    Don’t eat yellow snow.
Don’t eat the Tootsie Rolls floating in the swimming pool.

The newer liners from Husky have the dual carpet screws there on the passenger side. The ones from last year only have one. I have the newer ones, they hold pretty well now that they have 2 anchors points.
It won't do any real damage to the carpet, they don't screw in that far.

Idk what they look like, but is it possible to just pop the retainers into the floor mat without securing them to the floor so it “looks” like they’re there? Just thinking outside the box...

No, they have anchor covers that screw from over the floor mat... so you either use them or leave them off.

The lack of clips on the right side was massively annoying to me. I'm not so much worried about the carpet staying nice, just the mat moving around annoyed me as I never had that problem in other vehicles that didn't have anchors. I had some snaps lying around and saw on TW that someone else had done this:

Not having to see the mat moving around has been priceless.

There is nothing special about the Taco carpet. This isn't a Rolls.

The bigger issue that I had when thinking about Eagle Claws and such was damage to the paint leading to corrosion down the road. But there is a decent layer of foam under the carpet, so this should not be a worry.

My 2019 has clips for both sides. My Husky liners fit perfectly and do not move around.

The X-Act Husky Liners dont move around at all, (not like the Toyota factory ones do) i dont want to secure it at all really, just want to cover the holes up in the husky mat without screwing into the carpet. I know its nothing special with the carpet, i just dont like the idea of screwing into it

You can probably carefully remove the plastic grommets from the mat, then they won't stand out as much. From there, some duck tape or a tire tube patch could seal the hole?

The holes that the anchors create would barely be noticeable, if at all, once they are removed.
