An astute reader may recall that we'd headed east a few days before Memorial Day - not just to explore Hells Canyon, but to meet up with Mike @Digiratus, Monte @Blackdawg, and Devin @MissBlackdawg. At least, those were the folks we knew; we were also rendezvousing with @BabyTaco Gage and his wife, and a couple of their friends - long overdue if you ask me.

From our current location at Hells Canyon Dam, it was some 5 hours north to Lewiston, ID, where we'd all planned to meet for lunch, so we were up early - for sunrise if it'd been sunny and we'd been able to see the horizon - to eat a quick breakfast and do our best to dry off the tent from the torrential downpour the night before.

Made it down to Aransas Pass, South Padre and Goose Island SP with my wife and 3 boys. A fun and stressful fathers day weekend filled with campin, swimmin and fishin.. all made possible with lots of drinkin.

 

Guys looking for some input, my brake booster area started squealing when pushing the pedal down a few weeks ago..now it squeals all the time with the engine running...think my booster is leaking? Or just a vacuum leak? I haven't looked into it but it's super irritating while driving. Thanks

 

There is a specific test to determine if the booster is run a mock and am unable to locate it at the moment.
Mine is hissing when I shut off the engine.

I would be curious on the remedy on this...

Every morning all week this week and last week I’m working on this shit.

 

You appear to be at the "lets hurry up and get this thing done so I dont have to look at it" phase. Looks like fun.

 

Brought my fender flares and lower bumper valence back to black with a heat gun today. Applied some vinyl protectant after. Waiting for Friday morning for an alignment. Anxious to drive the truck with ''new'' front end and wheels/tires.

removed plastic bedliner in prep for pending Line-X next month
bed has not seen light of day in 265 months
only a few sparse scattered rusty spots on the surface (no perforations) which is unreal as long as its been on there and covered with snow and ice during some winters for days and sometimes weeks until it melted.

had been wanting to use the tie hooks better, the plastic liner always prevented since it was over the rail liner and the hooks were buried
climate protection too because it will start rusting at some point (surprised it hasn't so far deep underneath)
most important!!! ... trying to avoid pricey paint job because of bare metal in the back corners that has started to oxidize, touchup paint just isn't effective anymore




also had this trying to grow and fester for who knows how long...

 

Finally finished the cammo paint job. Put some serious time into it. Raptor liner with single stage flat urethane airbrushed for the cammo.

 

All back together, except for the 2000 pound bed rack. I need to come up with something different to cut some weight.

Redid the mounts for my air compressor and tank while I had the bed off.

 

What does the braided line do for the clutch? Firm up pedal feel?

I tried the heat gun trick and didn't work well enough for my liking. I ended up pulling the bumper and valance off and using Duplicolor Dark Charcoal Trim & Bumper paint. Perfect match, looks 1000 times better!

Dude, I love the pickup! Is it lowered or stock height? Mustang wheels?

 

Yup, just like braided brake lines do. Lasts longer too.

 

Only really firms anything up if your rubber line is shot/swollen. A brand new rubber line will feel the same as a new stainless line, or so Ive been told.

 

Either way, replacing the 20 year old line is probably not a bad idea!

 

$35 for a braided clutch line from Marlin. Pretty much a no brainer to me as it will likely be the last time you ever need to replace it.
