First off thanks for the add guys. Some background. I'm a new nurse. So finally I can purchase a truck. I'm a avid rock climber, kayaker, camper, blah blah and my old subie smells like an old shoe from stuffing all the gear inside of it over the years. So it's time for a truck. I drove all the mid size truck out and yep, a taco is the one. That being said, I'm a new nurse. I'm broke, student loans, yada yada, 1st world problems. So I'm gonna try to get the price of an OR as low as I can without being an ass. Mind you, I have sold cars in the past so I know a bit of the game but what I don't know is bottom price. So what have you guys been able to pull off on prices? I saw a review on the pro where the guy got it for less than the OR and I've had ppl cut my balls off while selling cars so I know it can be done. I just don't want to be outlandish thinking 20k is the #.
    Thanks
    Doug

    Welcome!!
Well, without tech packages, no JBL, 4X4, depending on Auto or Man trans, and depending where you live, you'd probably end up $34k range. Again a lot of other factors can change that number and location.

Damn you guys are fast! So I guess a little more background. I live in Ohio. The OR I test drove was stickered at 34k. I have an old drinking buddy who is the truck manager at the dealership and about 12 toyota dealerships around me so I was gonna pit them against each other to shoot for 30k OTD.

It's gonna definitely depend on location and how hard up the dealer is to move inventory. I think 8% can be had without too much haggling though.

I dont think you'll get an OR for 30k OTD.... that's SR prices low,

The guy who said 34 before TTL is probably pretty close with what I've seen on here and personally

Don’t ask the dealership what’s their best price, because they will tell you what is the best price for them not for you. Always remember what door you walked into the dealership through.
Best wishes on your new truck.
And remember, it’s always TACO Tuesday.

Wait until closer to the end of the month and you will get the best deals. If you can wait for the 2020s to hit dealers, you will probably be able to get an even better deal on a 2019 leftover. It appears that dealers are usually willing to let manuals go for cheaper than autos. Also, look to see how long a truck has been on a dealer's lot, they will want to move the slow ones.

Also, if you want to go for the throat punch immediately, find the truck you want, and offer them 3% below invoice (not MSRP). You can ask the dealership to see the invoice price and they are supposed to show it to you. They will still get half of their hold-back and you will get a great deal if they take it. Plus they will make money on your trade-in and the finance portion, so don't feel bad for them.

If I were you.... Forget the tacoma. Go change your life, make the better.Living quality, only cheap vehicle that can go work, after you clear the loan, you don't have to think if you can afford a trip or not, JUST GO.

Than the tacoma is yours, no one can stop you if you can own it easy.

welcome to TW. i recently purchased my 2019 trd ORLB 4x4. the addendum on the truck was 42,5k. i work at a dealership so i used that to my advantage. im in the inland empire,ca so i emailed every dealer that was in my area which is about 8 dealers. i told them i work at a dealer and i was not interested in going in circles. i asked them what is the bottom price they can do on a 2019 trd off road 4x4 long bed in cement. i also told them what i had as a down and that im tier 1 credit (835 at the time). long story short one dealer offered me 34k + T&L. a couple dealers said they could do 36.8 +T&L and i asked them if they could do better than the 34k i was offered and 3 dealers said they would not or cant do that. so i took the 34k + T&L. they left all the stuff that was on the addendum on the truck as well.( just pipe tip, splash guards, ect.)

    ^^^ this!

It’s not like Toyota plans to stop making Tacomas any time soon.

    Good luck!

Whiskeytangofoxtrot: That is my exact plan. Good to hear a 2nd story of this tactic working on a taco.

Guys. I have made the lifestyle changes, career changes ect. My guess is I have about 3 months before the wheels literally fall off my subie. The frame the wheels attach to has rusted through so it's time.

it can work just depends if the dealers want to play ball. also before i went in to the dealer i purchased at i asked the guy i was emailing if any numbers are going to change when i get down there i do not want any surprises because ill just leave. he said there were going to be no surprises. he was true to his word. best i can say is talk to the fleet managers. also see which stores are gross stores or unit stores. good luck with your search.

You need a Subaru Chacoma. The two tone paint is extra.

Holy shit. I've never seen one of those! Unfortunately due to my future plans of going back off grid once I buy some land that isn't an option. Lol
