So I have been noticing that when the GFC gets wet, the water tends to run down to the front corners (over the cab) and drip off. I have seen this after washing the truck as well as some light rain we have had the last few days. My parking spot does have a slight forward angle so that may be why the water is flowing towards the front. I havent checked the front tube yet, but so far there hasnt been any water intrusion inside the camper. All the water is on the exterior which is good. I am keeping a close eye on it and will update if I see any issues. I have no reason for concern as of now though.

Another questions, they released the new awning brackets on the website. I am looking at getting a Rhino Rack batwing. Do you guys think two of the new brackets will be fine or will I need three? Thanks!

I've noticed that annoying drip too. It drips down the extrusion and exits over the corner of the cab where it drips on my head :mad:when I open the rear door. I'd like to eliminate that drip by somehow funneling it elsewhere.

Yeah exactly. As long as the water isn't pooling it should be fine but I have been trying to figure out a way to mitigate this. and again none of the water is getting inside of the camper so thats good

That drip is my wifes #1 complaint about the GFC, i guess i'm not sure that wouldn't happen with anything that overhangs the cab? I was recently parked next to a FWC in the rain and noticed the same thing happening on that truck.

Met a guy in Black Rock Desert with a 4WC. He made his own rubber drip rail on the roof of the camper to channel water collected to drop inside the drip moldings of the Tacoma. I want to say it was called trim-lock? It rained on us while we were out there and his mod definitely worked.

2 is fine. That awning isn't very heavy.

To those of you who drove up to Bozeman and camped along the way (and to any Montana locals), what kind of bear precautions should be taken. I’ve backpacked and camped extensively in much of the western U.S., but never in grizzly country.

We had bear spray with us and bear bells on our dogs. We also kept the dogs on leash unless we were in a very open place.

The guidance we got from the GFC guys was "you'll want bear spray, either liquid or lead".

Did you store food in bear canisters? I’ve got an Rtic cooler and wonder if it’s odor-proof.

We will be heading out at the end of July to pick up our GFC. Any recommendations on places to stay would be great.

Basic back country rules here in MT are to suspend your food or put it in a bear proof canister. The cooler is no where near bear safe. Recommend a quick google about storing food in bear country. As far as keeping them at bay, “typically” speaking or bear bells are the best method. Bear spray is good to have on hand too.

It depends on the cooler. Some are certified by IGBC and are fine. I’m not sure that RTIC actually has the IGBC sticker but it does mention bear resistant in the specs.

If it is helpful, I saw that Costco was selling two large canisters of bear spray for $40.

Yeah it’s a good deal too! Normally you are looking at $25-30 for a can that size. Not something I have had to use yet (nor do I want to), so price is the only review I have on it thus far.

    :hattip:

That is what I was seeing on a quick check. I almost grabbed some, but I don't have any plans yet for bear country and I'm a bit unhappy about that.

    Weird freaking year . . .

Little different for me. I live in bear country, so it was a no-brainer for me to purchase. Keep one in each rig. Granted it’s black bears we have, which are giant wusses. I just let my dog out when one gets on property and she properly trees them.
