I used to work for a defense contractor that made CF stuff for missiles. That stuff and related resin DEFINITELY causes cancer.

I just put myself down on the waiting list.

I call Seibon earlier today. Since they just release this product, there's a backorder of 8-10 weeks. I am about 21st person on the waiting list.
There's a flat rate shipping cost of around $150.
I also asked them about the yellowing of the clear coat. He stated that it will yellow over time if you let your car sit in the sun all day every day. So taking good care of it is important.

Also regarding the hood latch, Since this is "aftermarket," they have to put it on there that hood pin is required. For safety purposes. However, it is completely your choice whether you want to put it on there or not.

Glad you went ahead and got it. Please do an update when you get it on quality and figment. Also do you know if the scoop is functional?

I had a cf on my car back in 05 and it was good quality. Only cost $500 back then.

Not yet. I only put my name down on the waiting list. When it arrived, they will give me a call (Note: This is ordering directly from Seibon). Then, I would have a day or two to decide whether I want to buy it before I lose that allocation. But If I end up getting it, I will definitely put it on here to show the quality and fitment of the hood. I will probably do a video on it since I have a youtube channel.

As for the scoop functional or not, I did not ask them that question. Based on how the hood looks exactly OEM, I would assume it just for aesthetic. Cause I know Amerihood made their version of the hood with a scoop that actually channels air to the CAI.

Note: During that phone call, the sales rep told me that their distributor might have a cheaper rate than their own website. So you guys can look those up and see if it's less than $1400. They didn't specify which distributor.

I used to repair CF and Kevlar racing cables and kayaks. CF is a terrible choice of material especially if you ever plan to off-road your vehicle, but even just for on road use. Scratches don’t just buff out. Rock ding on the highway? you’ll be filling them with resin or patching them CF cloth, which will look terrible. If you miss a ding that went through the resin, next time it rains hard the cloth will saturate, then bye bye hood

So I guess it would be wise to clear wrap the entire hood. For rock ding protection as well as UV. Not to mention hood pins are strongly preferred. So you gotta drill through your hood and install the pin latch. Sounds like a lot of pain in the rear for most people.

The clear on these hoods is thick. Never had any of the issues you mentioned after having a CF hood on my S2k for >4 years. It got rock chips but you cant really see them as well as in paint since there's no base coat like paint. When it chips it just looks like a pit in the clear coat. Its not quite like a kayak where the hood is going to see actual contact with anything. After 4 years the hood looked better than my fenders.

I even took it "off road", at least in gravel.

No Hood pin on your S2K? Cause I don't want to put it on my truck.

It had a latch hook in he front. Pins are a CYA thing they have to mention. That way if it flies up they can say they warned you. If it has a latch then it should be good. No latch means it needs pins or it won’t stay closed.

Welp. After lots of thinking, I'm definitely gonna go for it since I already put my name down anyway. And I've been waiting for the mercy of a TRD Sport owner who would be generous enough to do a hood swap + cash and it's been almost a year and still nothing. So might as well go big. lol!

So hopefully, I can get em in 8-10 weeks. I'll definitely be making a detailed video of it. From the fit and finish, overall looks, and the decision of to hood pin or not to hood pin.

I've been trying to find a scooped hood and haven't been able to really, and I like the idea of it being lighter. Anyway, I called because their website said they're still out of stock and turns out the guy said they had a few. It was $1360 with shipping to FL, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger - hopefully it arrives in a week or so!

Seibon should kiss you first before shipping this hood to you for $1,400.

I just e-mailed them to ask what the hood weighs, and they said:

"Should weigh in just under 25lbs"

    Thank you,
