On a double cab, the corner issue is significantly less that even an acess/xtra cab, as the rear windows takes care or the corners.
I’m much more in favor of that on that configuration.

Truck took a crap today. Cranked fine when I left work. Stopped at Bi-Lo on the way home, got back in the truck. No cranky. Dead battery. Called the wife, Camry battery mated with Tacoma battery for a while, but no go. She be dead dead. Got a new battery from wally world, looked it up on their lookup thing and pulled the one they said was the right one. It wasn't the right one. The posts were on the wrong side of the battery, and of course the positive cable wouldn't reach the post because the black cable that runs to the fuse box is too short. I fought it too long trying to make it work, but kids needed dinner and bed time, so gotta go back tomorrow with the right right battery and do it all again.

    :annoyed:

I'm pretty good with getting four years out of the stock battery, and I knew I was on borrowed time, but I figured I'd get some sluggish turnover before it totally crapped out.

Yeah I think I got 1 sluggish start before mine just wouldn’t do anything. It got replaced under warranty after I had bought a Walmart battery.

Just jump your battery from your other battery! Duh!!! Or swap batteries if it’s completely dead! Amateurs!

Batteries are always a pain in the ass. From now on, I'm going to an auto parts store where they install it for you for free.

It was pretty good, so not too butt hurt about it. And yeah, I've been wanting to go with a dual battery setup with a solar tender. This might be the motivator that finally makes it happen!

The irony here is I pulled double duty working a part time gig at Advance Auto for @Shibbyjeep for a while. I can sling some batteries. lol. If I had gotten the battery from AAP instead of walmart I would have probably been fine.

Haha, little bit. I’ve come to appreciate the 2nd and 3rd gens over time but yeah I’ve got a soft spot for the 1st gens, especially Super White xtra cabs.

I still have a thing for 1st gens.. I remember when I fell in love with Toyota Tacomas.. I was in 9th grade .. there was a double cab short bed yes offroad in black. Everything was chrome but was spotless.. I even remember the price.. $11k can't remember mileage though but I think of that truck a lot...
