Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Throttle body error.
It’s a known issue to Toyota on 4Runners. Didn’t think it was a Tacoma issue, low and behold, it is. Got mine replaced under warranty. With 87B tune still in truck.

Actually the dealer paid for my tow there too. And a rental car.

 

Check your brake light bulbs if the top filament burns and swings down into the lower filament it’ll throw a brake override. Techstream will tell you that brake signal a and b cross coupled if that’s the case

 

I cleared the code before I read it and reflashed. Haven't had any issues since this morning. I'm thinking if I'm having the Throttle body issues then it will surely happen again. Are there any other symptoms of the throttle body error before throwing the brake override CEL and limp mode? Such as poor throttle response or anything like that?

 

How has Toyota not fixed the mapping themselves yet? It seems like if the truck came with the same performance that orange virus is offering that the truck would be even easier to sell?

 

The same reason they put out a shitty tune in the first place

 

And, the same reason that folks have to fight at or get turned away from the dealer for a 10min update.

 

Nope. No symptoms. That I noticed. Just the Christmas tree of lights and dead pedal.

Code popped up again on the freeway. Luckily I was in a good spot. Got off the highway easy.

 

we've heard from a few people now that Toyota has replaced their Throttle bodies due to being faulty. This may be why we are seeing it only on a few newer trucks.

 

Finally pulled the trigger on this! Pretty excited after following this thread for the last 2 years.. and definitely looking forward to the coming updates.

 

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I haven't read this thread since 1.05 dropped.
I heard there is a 2.0 coming out "SOON". I know, it's not out yet.
My question is, what is the difference between my 1.05 and the newer 2.0?

 

Gotta use Techstream if you got it. Just takes a lot longer for the ECU to adjust to the new tune and override the old

Rev hang... Torque converter dead pedal..
and further refinement of our ignition code for smooth efficient operation under any condition.

 

So will there be a new TCU flash along with the ECU?

First - Welcome Back! That is one hell of a lots of posts you missed!

Go with the 1.05 if you are on 04b04 - well worth it especially the gear locker. 2.0 should be the bomb! Well worth the wait.
