Thanks for the replies. I’ve held the survey response back because of this issue. So, the sales guy has been really good helping get me in on the days I want to come in. And the service manager has been good about it. I’ll see what the region rep says and mention the pro detail on their dime prior to paint. I’m Sure that will be cheaper for them, if it works at least.

    Thanks for your help.

I think the dealerships paint better than Toyota Manufacturing .

Toyota paint is pretty pathetic. I hope it all works out. I'm sure it's a huge pain.

Update for today. The Toyota dealer rep wants to run the hood through the heat process once more. He doesn’t think it was done the way it should have been done, so taking it in on Tuesday to a different dealer that hires a vendor to do it.

From there, if they can get it corrected, I’m going to suggest high end detail before paint. I didn’t get to talk to the rep today, my wife had to take the truck in but called me while sitting with him.

So, let’s see where this goes next.

They should have to pay for your time.

Yes, that is also going to be brought up in the next conversation. I do get a loaner next week. But, this is becoming a hassle. See what I can get out of this.

Most recent update. Took the truck into the local dealer who goes through a body shop for this TSB. They do a different process, bake the impacted area at spec temp for specific time. I couldn’t get much detail from the service director but from what I can tell, it is gone now. The truck sat out overnight at the dealer and we had one of our usual summer sprinkle storms accompanied by wind and blowing dirt, so I need to wash it to see if there is anything left.

But, from what I can tell, it should be good. I’ll post this weekend after I give it a full detail - finally! Been waiting for a month to clay it and give it a fresh coat of wax.

“Ceramic coating” is the current buzzword. And dealers love to charge thousands of dollars for the current buzzword.

OP: I assure you the dealer didn’t apply ceramic coating to your truck out of the kindness of their heart and didn’t charge you for it. That would go against everything everyone knows about dealers.

    Cheers.
