Thanks for the response, we ended up getting in contact with some rangers when we were out there and you're right, the water was over four foot deep, so we did an out and back, no loop. Had a good time and got to see some cool country.

    not enough.
that's unfortunate, the west side is also very pretty but the entire loop is still awesome. Glad y'all were safe and got to do a good chunk of the loop regardless!

I went scouting last week for a fun place to do some long range shooting

There sure is a whole lot of nothing out there, west of Utah Lake over the mountain range

That area and west of the No shooting zone around Five Mile are about the only places left open to go anymore.

Tried to go from Ward Canyon to Farmington canyon today and the gate is still closed about 8 miles up. Kind of a bummer since I heard they were opening the gate on the 15th and figured the whole loop would be doable. Still a great day anyway and had a nice ride on the gravel grinders with the lady and pup41E32BD1-7D2E-466B-B8F8-FB0C53735CCE.jpg

I thought I was going crazy, NO SHOOTING signs everywhere! Initially drove up east of the mountains next to the lake without much luck, drove north and around till I reached Five Mile and still kept seeing signs. Luckily after heading back down south I found another sign that allowed shooting.

Do you do any editing of your photos in Lightroom or anything? I dig the tones of your shots, looks good!

Yea I do. I color grade most of my photos so that’s the tone your talking about. I enjoy editing so any time I plan to share something (gotta make it look good for the instagram), I edit.

Nice i'm kind of a photography/lightroom junkie so I like to see what everyone else is doing. I like editing too, the best for me is at night when the fam is asleep and I can just turn on some tunes and do some work. I'm starting to build a portfolio now so I can do some side work so we'll see how that goes.

Nice, dude! Hardest part is putting yourself out there. I did photography on the side for a few years. Contracted with a ski resort to shoot social media/marketing content. It was a blast and gave me a lot of cool opportunities but for me, it wasn’t the right path and my love for photography took a hit as I became too concerned with what people on social media and all that wanted to see instead of what I truly enjoyed shooting. So don’t do that haha stick to your passions and what you enjoy and the style you enjoy.

Totally agree! What i'm doing is I won't be promoting/advertising myself it will be word of mouth and references so i'll get people that like my style and the way I shoot. I fell in love with photography in high school ~12 years ago and fell out of out the last few years because I had just been busy. Social media has ruined photography in a sense but I feel like it challenges me to be better. Here's a couple I shot a couple weeks ago, I like landscape photography the best but i'm starting to dabble in portraits more. Absolutely no weddings for me haha not my style.

Just got back from an 8 day trip covering a lot of southern Utah. We started in St. George and stayed at Snow Canyon state park with our friends who are a retired couple (basically parents 2.0) for a couple of days. It's a neat place with lots of short hikes. 20190608_191658.jpg
We drove up out of town and did the Virgin River Gorge overlook trail. Easy trail with killer views. 20190609_140120.jpg

After we left St. George we headed towards Hurricane and went to Toquerville falls. What a beautiful place to see. 20190610_103943.jpg
From there we headed to Capitol Reef to do the Cathedral Valley loop trail. What an experience. So quiet it's almost eerie. 20190611_152741.jpg

From the exit of the Cathedral valley loop trail we headed towards Hanksville. We stopped and had an early dinner at Dukes slick rock grill. Really good ribs! From there we headed towards Goblin Valley state park to look for a campsite on BLM land, and we found a good one. 20190611_210227.jpg

The next morning we hiked through Goblin valley state park. That's a neat place for sure! From here we would travel north to Green River to check out the crystal geyser and then up into Sego Canyon. While the geyser didnt erupt for us while we were there it was still worth the drive to see it. However what we saw at Sego took our breath away. 20190612_115533.jpg 20190612_120219.jpg
Unbelievable! Looking at these guys gives you goosebumps.
After reluctantly leving Sego we headed down into Moab for some trail time.
It felt good to drop the trailer and do more serious stuff. Fins N things and hells revenge were our goals for today. After we finished Fins n things the wife and my son tapped out.
    Screenshot_20190613-120036_Video Player.jpg
They were too scared and were not enjoying their time here. :notsure: So hells revenge was not even attempted. Oh well next time.
So we went Arches National park instead. 20190613_140606.jpg
At this point the wife wanted a shower and we needed to do laundry so we booked a night at a local RV park. It was clean and quiet but not my style. But she was happy. The next morning we headed to Canyonlands and Deadhorse state park. 20190614_095534.jpg
Schaefer trail was awesome! We took it down then drove the potash rd back into Moab. 20190614_112505.jpg
More driving took us out to Marlbro point. This is a cool overlook that not many people take but it takes you out to a point that looks back towards Deadhorse. There's no camping allowed back here but I wish there was. 20190614_165354.jpg
With our trip nearing the end we decided to head out early the next morning. Our destination was Muley point. We had to drive through Monticello and gassed up there. Stopped by Hole in the rock tourist trap and took the tour. I could live in a house like that! 5000sf built right into the mountain. On our way south we stopped off at the Needles overlook. Its 22 miles from the main road but worth the drive out there. 20190615_134849.jpg 20190615_144321.jpg
After some views and reflection of what it must have been like to explore this area as a pioneer we left and headed South once again. After a long drive we finally reached our final camp spot of the trip. And it was a good one. 20190615_201019.jpg
Overlooking the San Juan river and Monument Valley. From here we got to watch storms roll in from the North and South of us. The lightning show was incredible and the thunder rolling across the canyon was surreal. I'll stop rambling here about my trip and close this out with the one picture that I wanted to get from the beginning of this trip. 20190616_114724.jpg

Yes it is! I wished we had more time to stay and explore each area but we wanted to see as much as we could. I could spend a lifetime exploring out there. We will be back for sure.

I know some cool places in the Moab/Blanding area that no one ever goes to. I like it much better, not as many people haha
