I'm replacing the shackle on my leaf spring. How do you get this bolt out? The hanger seems to be blocking its route.

Let that rear end hang more to adjust the attitude.

Jack it up and try to get full droop, adjust as necessary

    Mind the leaf springs.

Remove the shocks? Because right now it's hanging on it's own... no Jack or stands under the axle.

That top shackle bolt iirc I had to move and fudge with my jack setup

I think the only way I got it out was to get the axle farther away from the bracket/frame without taking a bunch of other stuff apart.

Thanks for help guys! I buttoned it back up. Clearly this is a project for another day, when I have the time to commit to doing it properly.

Was wondering how you made out. I’m sure there’s some speedy workaround, but as you know once you’re up in the air you just grab a pry bar and go for it. Fortunately I had hydraulic lifts under each wheel and stands under the axle to push things around.

You have to move it laterally. Drooping it all the way out should do it. That shackle is made to pivot, so you jut have to get it to do so.

Basically this. I had to pop the front leaf bolt to turn the leaf enough to get that bolt(s) out.

If you want a hand on the next go, let me know!

Moar jacks and jackstands might be helpful also?

Shackle has been installed. Followed the suggestions ya'll made, loosen u-bolts and remove front leaf bolt and then it was a breeze.

    Thanks again guys!
