Interior Mods: custom cluster, accent lights, wired stock backup camera to aftermarket radio, dye carpet and trim black Exterior mods: Headlight lenses and bulbs, fog lights, 3rd brake light, tail lights, bull bar, sport bar, restored sun damaged trim, more to come
Hello, I've been using the threads here for a lot of the mods for my truck. As I've done things I've been learning more and more and how to do things more professionally. I'm going to list the stuff I've done (some of it is really basic) and if anyone wants a write up or photos let me know and I'll post them.

2009 Tacoma base model 2 door 4 cyl

    1. Took bench seat out and dyed carpet black, ran wiring for accent lights and sub/amp (mounted under passenger seat), installed custom formed seat cover on bench, and reinstalled bench.

    2. Dyed all interior trim black: step guards, kick panels, under dash panel, center console, glove box, trim behind the bench, and the door panel (also replaced the grey microfiber arm rest with a black leather one).

    3. Accent lighting: I'll get to how I power it in another step. RGB controller mounted to drivers side of center console, a 10" LED bar installed under driver and passenger seats, under driver side dash, and under glove box. I decided this wasn't enough so I wired 5 single LED bulbs under the A/C controls to illuminate the center console, 1 in the tray next to where your right knee is, 5 in the tray at the bottom of each door, 7 in the bottom speaker for each door, and 1 on each door handle. All LEDs are wired to a switch mounted on the left side of the dash.

    4. Custom cluster: took the instrument cluster apart and removed all PCB LEDs and put in blue or white LEDs, removed red paint from needles and painted them white, removed clock and A/C controls and took them apart to remove all red/amber LEDs and replaced them with blue. I also replaced my shifter with one that glows blue when touched.

    5. Aftermarket radio: pretty self explanatory but I installed one that supports android auto, installed the microphone, installed a new aux and USB outlet to connect to radio, installed charging only USB outlets, installed HDMI outlet connected to radio (because I could). I also wired the stock backup camera to the stereo (was genuinely surprised when it worked). I hooked up the sub/amp. I ran 14 AWG wire to the door panels, mounted a crossover, and replaced the stock speakers and tweeters with ones that would complement the rest of my stereo.

    6. Custom switches and power relays: I bought a 6 fuse/6 relay box off Amazon and wired them to the aftermarket switches I installed on the left of the steering wheel (all of it looks factory). 1 relay powers my aftermarket horn, 1 switch/relay goes to fog lights, 1 to the bed lights, 1 to the light bar that I haven't bought yet, 1 to the rear light pods that I haven't bought yet, and 1 to the under chassis lighting that I haven't bought yet. My main relay is trigger from a fuse I added from the interior fuse panel, it has power when the truck is turned on. This will prevent ALL switches and relays from having power while the truck is off. I would hate to leave my fog lights on overnight and drain the battery. I used a bus bar and an 8AWG wire to pull power from the battery.

    7. Replaced 3rd brake light with a black lense. Replaced both rear tail light lenses with smoked LED lenses (the factory one was cool but it looks so much better). Replaced headlight lenses with Halo projector low beam and reflector high beam. It also has small LED running lights (wired them to my ACC line from the relay box). I put Morimoto HID 35 W 5500K in my low beams. High beams are Halogen bulbs with a 5000K color temperature. I also installed smoked fog lenses (truck was not wired for fog lights and had no lenses prior to this) and put in LED 6000K bulbs.

    8. Restored all sun damaged black plastic trim. This took the better part of a day but it gives the truck a better/newer look. I did this 6 months ago and it still looks good. I also applied a UV protectant to all the trim and all lenses.

    9. Replaced the grill. Installed a Bush guard. Installed a sport bar (it is mounted in the rails behind the cab, no drilling required and my LED light bar and rear facing LED pods will be mounted here). I also installed in chanel window deflectors, a bug and stone hood mounted deflector, and floor mats (all from Weathertech). Replaced seatbelts with blue seatbelts. Installed custom pedal pads.

Mods coming soon: light bar, rear facing light pods, fender flares, under chassis lighting, running boards, lift kit, rims/wheels, possibly a tonneau cover, and maybe vinyl decals or a wrap.

A lot of the mods I did with info posted on this site. Some I did on my own. Most of the products I bought are from Amazon or Ebay with a few exceptions.

Not sure about how the gen 1 seatbelts bolt in but for mine I had to remove all the trim that covers them. Once they were unbolted I had to remove the plug that stops the belt from moving if suddenly jerked or whatever.

Once the belts are out, just send them in to get the webbing replaced. All hardware will be the same and cleaned up. $75 a belt. You have to pay in advance, pay for shipping and return shipping. Be sure to include the invoice in the box when you ship it. It took about 5 business days to get back.

There are probably other vendors that offer more inexpensive services but this is the one I used.
