version 1 of my Softopper pop up. Will add fabric to the sides soon. I also need to smooth out the motion of the lift.

    Basic Parts List
    2x 1.5”x2” x6 ft 90 degree aluminum angle
    2x 30 lb gas struts
    Various mounts for gas struts

    Scissor made from 3/8”x1” bar
Bed rail and slot cut in aluminum angle are used for scissor lift motion

Oh man, that would make camping in the back of my softopper (which I do often) so much nicer.

Yes! Rattles or flying off would be bad. I also wanna see stability when it’s in the upper position. Wind can destroy things in a hurry.

I’m guessing he’s made a new bracket. And that’s what the topper affixes too.

Judging by the way the shocks slide.

I have two clamps at the front. (Like the attached image). The Softopper rails are mounted to a piece aluminum angle. I bolted through the Softopper rails to the angle with flathead bolts. I mounted the scissor mechanism and the gas strut between the bed channel and the aluminum angle.

It is a little wobbly fully extended but if it gets to windy I’ll just pop it down real quick.

    More pics this evening.
