There are still beautiful things to see and places to go. You just may not be able to go to the high passes.

let's keep an eye on the forecast; there's a chance of rain this weekend and the rock garden is really treacherous when wet

From previous experience I can say getting out of the rock garden when it's raining is way more stressful than it is fun and it's super easy to accumulate body damage there :anonymous:

It Might be somthing to look into this year with all the avalanches and trail damage. It might be more of a clear and repair wheeling season. Maybe a club or agency might be looking for volunteers. Granted most will require heavy equipment. But just a thought we might want to consider if needed to help clear a trail! :notsure:O

I’m planning on heading to China Wall and Chinamans this Saturday. I’ve never run either of them. I’m not worried about China Wall, but I’m a little concerned about Chinamans since my truck is my daily driver. I’m on 33s, 3” lift, sliders, full skids, winch, and rear locker. I haven’t gotten around to flipping my u-bolts yet, so a little worried they’ll drag. My buddy told me there are a couple of obstacles without bypasses he thinks I may have to winch through.

If anyone can provide some insight on this trail from the Taco perspective considering my mods, I’d appreciate it.

I’m heading out with a group, so I’ll have company, but they’ll mostly be Jeeps. If anyone wants to help even the Jeep-to-Taco ratio, come on out. :)

Short bed my impression is you would be fairly ok. I’m a long bed and it tested me all day. Well, that and the rain made it interesting. You will use your skids and sliders pretty thoroughly either way.

I am anxious to do it again, in the dry, but I also think I’m going to wait until I have more rubber underneath me. That trail made me want 37s.....

Side Note: I’m a long bed on 285s with ~2ish” lift

With 33s, 3” lift, sliders, full skids, winch, and rear locker you will make good use of your setup.
I have 275 70 R17 (32.2 inch), 3" lift, sliders, stock skid, no winch, and rear locker. If you don't care about being jostled around a bit, I recommend street tire pressure to provide as much clearance as possible. 4WD and judicious use of the easy button provides traction. All my armor got new battle scars - sliders, front and rear bumpers, and the stock skid plate. The rear diff drain plug got a scratch while the transfer case went unscathed. I had to get winched up the V notch once I high centered on my slider. Chinaman is a great challenge. Have fun!

Anyone up to run Medano pass on July 4th? Camping will be crazy so that could be optional. Could hit up Bishop's Castle too and see what his crazy azz has done in last 8 years since I was last there.

He's still working on the castle. He's had a couple of rough years. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer (thankfully in remission right now), his wife passed away, and they had a fire up at the castle that burned the gift shop down.

I know theres some Colorado newbs out there that wanted to hit some dirt so might as well make this a thing. In terms of difficulty, it doesnt get any easier than this. We may or may not make it back in time for Copper Kettle brewery meet at noon, but my goal is to arrive fashionably late.

Ohh trust me I would love to go but the wife has plans. However, the Taco is coming along. Fully armored, sliders, working on electrical stuff now. But at least my HAM radio is getting a bunch of use!

Shooting for 5:30 at the conoco. If you can get out earlier and stake some claim and a campsite...by all means!
