We agreed on price and was set to get it when available tomorrow per his request or he would hold it all until Sunday as he was traveling... then was told he sold it tonight. I would have bought it twenty minutes after he posted if grabbing it today was an option.

It’s just stuff, but most everyone I have met with here has been a stand up guy!!

I get you're bummed but personally, if I'm selling stuff (especially on craigslist) it's hard to pass up cash in hand for someone that may flake out.
It's different if you know the person, but strangers flake all the time.
I try to play it the same way as a buyer. If it's a great deal that I gotta have, I try to be that guy with cash in hand.

Seemed like good prices, especially for the rack bushings which I guess aren't for sale anymore.

 

Your point is well-taken but, assuming @Backcountry chef and @In4aride relayed events accurately, @Jrazzle should not have sold to the "first person with cash-in-hand" if he agreed to "hold" the item(s).

 

Yeah never assume someone will keep their word online, regardless of the site.

i responded to a Craigslist ad for a Prinsu cabrack a few weeks back. Dude emailed back saying that he had received a full price offer that day and the guy was on his way to pick it up, unless I was willing to go higher. So if I bumped it up $50 you are going to screw the guy who is on his way? Needless to say I passed.

 

We had an agreement on price and he said he was only available today... if I was offered the chance to buy yesterday it would’ve been easier for me. The fact that he said multiple times he would hold it and we had 12+ texts he clearly knew I was serious.

Oh well I now know to stay clear from him!!

It seems to be fairly common with internet sales involving relative strangers.
