I feel odd man out, I don't have any used parts on my truck.

Probably because I'm kinda lazy and UPS/Fedex/Old Dominion are happy to deliver directly into my garage.

Man... its a shame I bought tires a couple months ago (though I still didn't install them) since there've been like 3 or so good sets up for grabs amongst the PA peeps since I bought them. I've got mine in a pile and I'll get them on later in the summer/fall when I do my rocker panel job. That will burn out the last season of this set I'm running and have the "newer" ones fresher for the upcoming snow season. I'm going to be taking my OE star rims and sandblast them, smooth them, and re-paint them with a dark grey metallic. Hopefully come fall my truck will look respectable and not like the huge POS that it is. (runs good, I've got the important mechanical stuff all well and good)

I feel you. I’m the opposite. I track everything. Last year into this year I’ve been tracking both my vehicle’s fuel ups on Fuelly and that’s been really awesome to see the trends haha

Is anyone interested in a set of rear 5100's - Brand new however the threads at the top of one shock is damaged. botched install (long story, not my fault). Anyways, I don't 't think it's re-threadable since we kinda had to grind it down, maybe rebuild-able though, if that's a thing?

Figured I'd ask here before I posted a FS thread, let me know if you're interested I will take any reasonable offer.

I can take a photo of the damaged shock when I get home.

Talk about distractions. Been away camping for 6 days in the rain and there are 425 posts on the PA thread alone. I have wet tents to dry out and the darn bear took a swipe at the screen house that needs to be fixed now. It was a great trip though.

I've never replaced mine, so dually note for future. I am planning on a whole preventative maintenance round for this winter sometime. I have always had the oil changed, but haven't had time or desire to work on my own in a long time. I am starting to get an idea of how to do a lot more from lurking in here for a while. I have never done my diffs or transfer or tranny. I would like to change the oils in them for sure. I need to get a transfer pump though.

I have been thinking about replacing the Hubs as preventative maintenance, but it may just me smarter to get them for when they need to be replaced. I don't have any humming or heat that I notice or play. I also want to replace all my u-joints and carrier bearing (still have a vibe at 55-60 mph) I think after 5 years it may also be time to replace the brakes, noticed a squeak 2 days ago. With the idea of keeping the truck for at least 5 more years I would like to be more proactive in its care. Is there anything else I should consider maintaining? Truck has about 100K for reference.

I also decided to change my spark plugs out hopefully next week. They are from 20K, and probably a more likely reason for my piss poor gas mileage. I haven't calculated it, but 250 miles a tank usually. Maybe that isn't bad for lifted and E rated tires on stock gears.

I didn't get to mow Saturday before the rain, Tornado Sunday so i still have 4 trees to cut and get a chipper before i can think about mowing. My lawn needs at least 2 days of sun after this before i wont sink to my blades though. I might have to go to the farm and get the finishing mower after

Bummer for me, but I knew it wouldn't last at that price.

    What event?

Well I won't be competing in anything, but it sounds like something my kids would enjoy. What types of events are scheduled? Can you link a website? Nevermind, just realized who I was talking to. You can't link the truck of the month.

Most of those things you want to PM can be checked in non-destructive manners. U-joints and the carrier bearing will show slop if there's any problems. The carrier may also show some rubber cracking if it's getting close to EOL. My 2013 had no problems with the CB at 100k, though it and my current truck vibrate at 45..

I wouldn't rip into hubs if you don't have any play either. Spark plugs are a good idea, not too bad on the 4.0. I think you have to remove the intake plenum to get to the rear but I don't remember.

Thanks for the info. Removing the intake seems like a good time to install my AFE power intake and safari snorkle. It'll make the spark plug job longer but no sense in removing the same thing twice.

AFE/K&N washable filters dust engines. Be careful.

Also they don't provide fuck all benefit since, surprise, tacos are a cold air intake to begin with.

Ask @Redmann about what happens when you don't start a build thread when it's time...

Also, skip 285s, go to 315s.

RE shock relocate: 12" kings (new) and a pre-welded shock relocate are the same price as OE length kings. If you're going to put real shocks on the back (and you should) there is no reason not to do the relocate. Especially since you can get used 12" kings for between $300 and $400 a pair, instead of $660.
