35 year round for me. I tried 29 (door sticker) / 30 when new and it felt too soft in the corners.

There is a belief that the tire pressures should increase 10% from cold to operating. I never checked this on anything else because I was too lazy to check manually. At 35psi, I will see operating pressures in the 37 / 38 region year round. 34 might be the optimal number, but the wear at 35 is looking really good.

Down the road, we'll see what the next set of tires do.

Same here, 35-36 cold year round for me, yields around 38 operating. Seems to be the sweet spot for my 285/70/17 duratracs. I tried running 40 operating for a while, and it gave me about 1 mpg better but it was like driving in a bouncy castle.

Friend of mine was running 50 PSI in some grabber X3. fuel economy was good but the 4runner wandered all over the road. it was like driving on ice constantly.

I get 17-19 consistently.... Never seen 20 except for short bursts of specific 55-60mph flat highways. I'm thinking heavy E-rated tires are the difference between the guys getting 20+ and guys like me...

I'm pretty happy when I get 17 mpg. 57 lbs a tire here....

I kind of laughed when I checked the weights of my wheels and tires the other day and found that they weighed 60.5lb each.:rofl:

I did this because a friend has 15in E rated MTs on his Bronco. They feel like they are less than 45lb mounted.

Yeah, I been doing the research on tire weights for a while. 57 per tire, 24 per wheel. 81 lbs at each corner, and an extra 81 in the bed.

That, and my happiness with the MPGs has me looking at SL ATs. Only about 1lb more. I'd love a set of E rated ATs, but so far, I found that I only need a bit more than these Toyos are capable of.

Those new forged Pro rims have me thinking though.

Gawd! You said it. It sort of makes me happy that I am not in the back yard of folks posting in the Crawling thread. Looks like $$$ fun.

If I can find them for a somewhat reasonable price, I’ll get them and unload my current pro wheels.

Opposite for me, all this has convinced me to suck it up and pull the trigger on 35s haha

That's my plan, if they launch them in 17s also. Probably a year or so out?

We can start a hypermiling club. Let's all get TE37x's or RPT1s!

    225s at 60psi!

I had a friend who used to hypermile. Way too slow, a lot of Polish overdrive, and bump starting. It was not fun in the right seat.

    I hear you!

Still with less MPGs, I would not like this thing any less. Fits me like a glove with a few easy mods.

I kind of agree, it keeps growing on me. I just put on some sliders, can't wait to beat the shit out of the mall parking lot this weekend.

Wheelchair ramps are my favorite. That is where I got the materials from for my sliders-to-be.
