She’s alive. Idling right now, so smooth. I’m gonna go through a few heat cycles and torque check everything one more time before I put the wheel back on. CEL free magically thanks to @JustDSM lol.

I’m ready to give it a shot but since I’m already dirty I’m gonna keep modding. Once I get the wheels back on I’m gonna drop the tank and put the new fuel pump in.

Oh sheeyut. Big day for mods! Did you go with a 255lph URD kit?

Yeah, I figure it’s should more than cover an NA motor and if I get boost I’ll reassess.

Main thing I wanted was an external filter though.

That should be plenty. Im running 10lbs of boost without the FPR mod (so my fuel pressure is constantly 43.5 psi) and it has never had an issue keeping up. I was gonna put a 340lph in, but i was worried the stock FPR wouldnt be able to bypass enough of the unused fuel back to the tank

Check this K&N filter out. I remember reading something in the S/C thread that said this flows more than the Napa gold one that the URD kit comes with. Also a lot cheaper if you buy them online vs from URD
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OXZEUK4

This is what i run on mine.

Also @DiamondW if for some reason you start having prolonged starts after swapping your fuel pump, PLEASE dont spend a bunch of time and money and get frustrated trouble shooting it.. The Walbro 255LPH are known to have a check valve in the pump that sometimes works good and sometimes doesnt. I added this check valve to mine right by the external filter, havent had any extended cranks since

Sure thing. Mine was really weird. It would happen only once every couple of weeks. Thought it was the UCon at first, but the fuel draining back is what it ended up being.

Also, whenever you get ready to cut a hole in your fuel bowl to slide the metal strap through for the URD kit (to hold the pump in place), instead of cutting it, just take a flat head screwdriver, heat up the tip with map gas or butane and then you can just push the screwdriver thru the bowl to make a hole big enough for the metal strap. Makes it super easy

That’s a killer idea! Way better than cutting! Thank you! I have all the fuel lines disconnected but it’s time to head to town for jiu-jitsu class. Will resume this evening.

On another note, I took a quick test drive. Truck is so much smoother it seems quieter, I really like it. Felt a good bit of extra pull throughout the range. Really happy right now.

Fuel pump and filter are in, even though I got a late restart. Beginning to end it was probably about a 3 hour job, but I took a lot of breaks. Truck seemed happy idling in the shop.

@BassAckwards the torch and screwdriver trick was definitely the way to go, I never would have thought of that so big thanks.

I don’t particularly care for the filter arrangement, I will be coming up with something better to replace it. Thinking this.

I saw it somewhere in the supercharger thread I think.

I think that’s enough modding for one trip home, time to relax!

Awesome! Glad to hear that worked well for you. I remembered reading that somewhere in a fuel pump thread. Worked like a charm!

I agree with the filter arrangement, could definitely be cleaned up. I like that piece you linked as well. Probably gonna add that to my list too:thumbsup:

It really did, URD should change their instructions to include if for sure.

I’ve got it tied up pretty well, but I’m worried about a stick grabbing the loop. Very possible the places I go for dove season alone.

I think i tried tucking the tubing up above the crossmember around there. Still not as clean as i would like. A hard mounted filter would be much better imo. Especially since you offroad
