No the guy says they aren't working properly hence the pads aren't wearing.

If the rears arent contributing any help then you'd see faster than normal wear on the front pads

Some dickhead stole my first Autism Awareness magnet a while back, and I got a new one at a car show in Philly last July, but it faded...

I decided to just buy a new one like the one that got stolen on Amazon!

What a thread lol. I don't know what brake setup is better. I do know if you put a heavy load in the bed and try to brake like it's empty, bad things can happen. It's caused by a poor driver, not poor brakes.

Considering you practically never have to replace the rear brakes on these trucks, I'd say leave them alone and just drive it.

    This is the correct answer.

My last truck before the Tacoma was 20 years old and had the original factory clutch and brakes ( although the front disc brakes were near end of use ).

Go ahead do it - Garages will love you - Rear disc brakes need a lot of attention since 70%+ is done on the front and the rears don't get used as hard because of the proportional valve and the puck in the caliper seizes up with lack of use. You probably will have to repair at least twice as much as front but it might stop 2" quicker in a stop if they are in excellent shape. As a mechanic I seen this time and time again - Front OK -Rears seized. The only advantage I can see is dics are easy to work on as drums are sometimes harder to get off and lots of springs, wheel cylinder bleeder, etc.. I have never had trouble with automatic adjusters - just lube up adjuster every couple of years or so whenever the back wheels are off or just manually adjust from outside. Remember most rear discs have a small drum built in against the hub with small brake shoes for the parking brake. I have seen many times the lining come off these tiny shoes (glued/bonded on and the glue lets go ) and do a lot of damage taking out springs, wheel sensors, reluctors etc. Your decision

I'll jump in! I think not worth it. If rear discs are a deciding factor, get a vehicle that comes that way. Had a Trooper with discs all around & brakes were fantastic. Stopped much quicker than my Taco (and several other cars I owned!). So I have learned what I feel are the safe stopping distances on the Taco and drive accordingly. I love my Taco, never have issues with braking and stopping. In my experience, good tires make a huge difference in stopping distances as well, much more cost effective than a brake swap.

Is placing duct tape over the defogger vents a bad idea? Will it harm the the HVAC system? Sometimes I put a shirt up there and it does work...

It has been ghastly humid in my area the last few days, and I am sick of this happening whenever I have the A/C on...

Can't say I've seen mine do it, but maybe only when switching fan positions. It's that time of year when it's maybe 50° when I leave for work, and 80° when I leave
