Where are you in West Pa? I had mine done at Baierl Toyota in Cranberry. The frame tech there is GOOD!

I need to get back under and look. I honestly didn’t notice that when I took the pic but it does look a lot like a hole.

I’m in the south hills. But cranberry isn’t to far away, was your frame bad?

No it wasnt. I just took it in for an oil change. Had the CRC done about 18 months earlier and Toyota had just extended the deadline and my 06 had 3 more months left. He found the hole while doing a courtesy check. The frame looked good unless you really checked it closely. In 2 years it would have been toast. They saved my ass and gave me back a truck thats going to last me a LONG time. GREAT customer service.

The round discoloration in the first and fourth photos looks like a hole is in the middle of that. I bet if you lightly hit it with a hammer a bigger hole would appear.

Let me know if you want to come up this way to have your truck checked out. I'll give you the contact info at Baierl. Take a drive past the dealerships in your area. If they have a pile of rusted frames outside then they have embraced the frame recall and are using it to their advantage. Most likely have a good frame tech too.

Mine had the CRC sprayed on it in 2015 and it failed inspection last month. Waiting on a call that the frame is in.

Also, you don't need your letter. I just bought my truck 3 weeks before had it inspected, so I did not own it when the letters went out. I called the Toyota Customer Care # and gave them my VIN and they could tell me that my truck was still eligible.

    Hope this helps!

I just got word from my Toyota shop that I need a frame replacement and need to bring the truck back on Monday (they weren't even really supposed to let mat take it with me but I needed it for a few days). Said it would take upwards of two months and that a loaner car was not provided. That doesn't sound right to me as I believe I had read that loaners are provided.

Is there any language from the suit or toyota corporate I could provide to get a loaner car?

Go to this web address: http://media.fixed-ops.com/Toy_Campaigns/E0D.pdf
It is a pdf file that is 91 pages long that outlines all the actions that should be taken for the Frame Rust Recall.

Thanks for the link. At first glance I notice that my MY2010 is past the date in the update and SC and TX, the two states the truck has resided, are not on the cold weather states.

I wonder why the dealer is saying I am eligible

It is 12 years from the date the truck was first purchased new. If you reside in a Cold Weather State as the current owner then I think it is eligible.

2010 + 12 = 2022... you still have a couple years plus. The 'cold weather states' business refers to getting the coating sprayed on, not frame replacement. If a frame fulfills the criteria for replacement, it gets replaced no matter what state you're in.

Owners of vehicles covered by this safety recall will receive an owner notification letter in the mail beginning next month. Toyota says any authorized dealer will perform this recall free of charge.

I had my second gen Tacoma done a few years ago. I didn’t think they would do anything since I scraped the rust and put some spray undercoating on it prior to them looking at it. Needless I got a new frame and am a loyal Toyota fan as a result.

I got the CRC coating already in 2015. I’d like to get my frame looked at before the warranty expires in 2022. The dealer says I’ll have to pay for the next inspection, does that sound right?
