Yes I gave the pedal commander a good shot, but knowing there was ovtune that fixed everything, made it hard for me to not buy it. Lol. Everything worked out. Sold my pc for $200 so technically paid $500 for ovtune. If the shifting doesn’t bother you than give the pedal commander a shot.

Cool! Make sure to go ahead and install the flash manager software now so u can email them your computer id. Makes the process faster. If you use an antivirus it is best to turn it off while installing the flash manager software. I use AVG and it kept trying to quarantine the P5flash utility. Did not work properly until I disabled my AVG. any questions with install feel free to message me.

So I'm not seeing a whole lot of guys talk about bigger tires, armor, camper shell oh and most important 5.29 gears. I know there's some of you out there but unfortunately I work for a living and can't read every page and review. I'm just curious how this acts with the 5.29 and if its still a good choice or not I love my new gear ratio, but it didn't add power that's for sure and I'm still adding weight... thanks for any quick feedback in advance. 2017 auto 3.5 v6

I have stock gears and 34” tires with 6” lift. It will give anyone a power and torque improvement. It will greatly help with dead pedal and transmission shifting. It is not set up for any specific weight or tire size. Definitely will be a huge improvement!

Oh and the top 2 mods for best performance that I see talked about are the 5.29 and ovtune together.

33 with shell, lift, some minor weight and 4.88 and OV tune base 91 is great in Colorado. Still, some weird shifting quirks that are solved by using S5 and/or minimized with ECT button. I did the OV tune with stock gears and the 58 lb tires for over a year. It helped but not enough for 6000-11,000 elevation and 2 overdrive gears. Now I don't even notice the weight of the tires and truck just wants to go.

Just curious why you run the base instead of the performance at 91? Is there some features that you don’t want in the performance tune or something you like better about the straight 91? Thanks

Thanks for that.Im also running 33s but very soon will bump it up a bit. Im thinking 295 70 17 or maybe 280 75 16, wanted to do 35s but just too much to deal with I think bc I had enough trouble rubbing on a 285 70 17. .i'm Also picking up my overland a.r.e shell this Sunday!! How do you like yours?

I actually just wanted to start with the base 91 and see how it drove compared to 1.04 91 and then try the performance and gear lock tunes. Some reviews seem to have some frustration with the performance tune being too jumpy off the line and hard to modulate so I decided to wait until the revised 2.0 update that is not yet out. Plus I just got gears at the beginning of May and have been wanting to get a good baseline of the performance of this tune with gears.

Ok cool. I started with the 87 performance, and thought to myself, why did I spend all of this money to not get the most out of the tune? So I bumped up to the 91 performance. I would say it is not too jumpy. Feels perfect to me. I came from a 2011 F150 4x4 with the 91 performance tune, and this truck felt very gutless compared. Wasn't expecting this. I've been running the 91 performance for 9 days, and it is awesome! Takes a few days for everything to settle in, but feels great now. I will run it unless fuel prices super shoot up. 87 performance was good, but really doesn't compare. Thanks for you feedback!

I’m sorry to bother and hope I don’t receive the ‘use the search function’ Or ‘do your research’ comment for this as I’ve been reading now for a while and just can’t find the link to where this product is at to consider purchase or research other than just via this forum. Would someone please share a link? I read probably 14/20 pages and gave up on this topic but through the reading does sound interesting since I’m not a huge fan of the way it shifts and throttle response. I’m no adventurous off road warrior nor highly interested in added horsepower but the value in better shifting and throttle response is something I honestly believe is a third gen problem since I just traded in my 2015 second gen for a 2019 trd off road and my other Tacoma there were zero problems from day one. Thanks for your time!

Nevermind, I finally found it by clicking ovtunes profile and clicking around on his previous posts. Unsure how I missed it thanks though

Can someone please tell me the easiest/quickest way to contact @OVTune so I can buy my license. I picked up a dongle this week and need to get everything so I can get this tune done!

Support@ovtune.zendesk.com. This is the only one I know he answers for sure. Sometimes takes a few days. Will you report back the actual price for just the license? Curious

I sure will. Thanks so much!! Any recommendations on a recent cheap computer?I'm literally just buying it for this purpose only so it'll possibly even just stay in the truck.

2017 Super White SR5 DCSB AT
    Purchased - 3/31/19
    Installed - 4/18/19
    ECU - 04B03
Stock everything, but removed air dam :)
I use 89 octane, non ethanol gas
Side note: my daily commute is about 30 miles roundtrip, I live about 3000 feet up and work at/near sea level.

    Stock:
Turn on ECT all the time (downhill/uphill didn’t matter), then shift to S4 my whole ride home as yes it has power to handle the hill/mountain, but not without giving some good throttle. Couldn’t leave it in drive as the tranny would try to get to 6th gear asap. Pretty much just grin and bear it. The truck was just a vehicle to get to/from work and run errands.

    My experience with the tune(s):
    ver 1.05
I ran 87 base for 1 day, didn’t think it did much. Ran 87 perf, was a little jerky so I thought maybe the 89 octane needed a 91 tune. Ran 91 base for a day, was better but my butt dyno wanted more. Ran 91 perf, liked the power but started getting the jerking symptoms.

    uploaded ver 1.051 around 5/25/19
    updated ECU to 04B04
Went to 91 base, responsiveness was better, but my butt dyno said go big or go home.
Uploaded 91 perf, tried to clear lv but it said cleared unsuccessfully, oh well, next time. Started the truck and let it idle while I was cleaning up my stuff, then turned it off. Didn’t drive it till the next morning.

Drive to work is mundane, just downhill and flat roads, still was able to get a feel for the much improved tip in and notice that the jerkiness was gone, much smoother throttle.

The commute home is where the money’s at for me. I wanted to see if the tune made the truck handle the uphill climb better and/or smoother than before. Before I know it, I’m doing 65+ (ahem) with ease, just a little pressure on the gas pedal (maybe a half inch?) and the truck is just cruising along. Where I used to put it in S4 with ECT on, I didn’t need to shift anymore, the tune + ECT works like a charm for me. The last small stretch before I get home, on stock I would use S3 with ECT, no longer with the tune.

    Final thoughts/recommendation:
    5 stars from me
I am definitely satisfied with what this tune has provided me. I think your expectations might be different than mine, but I didn’t go in looking for max hp or something else.
I also wasn’t about to spend money on an intake/exhaust for minimal gains (and probably higher cost).

What I did want was a better/smoother running truck/powertrain, and for me this tune has delivered on that. The throttle response is awesome, and there is more than enough power for me. I barely use S mode anymore, but I do still use ECT.

It has made me enjoy driving my truck every day. It has also made me spend money on so many mods now that I actually love my truck… well maybe that’s a drawback ;)

    Can't wait for 2.0!

I have a 2017 Pro A/T. I used a SSP, ECT always on Mod, and Sprint Booster. I than purchased Ovtune. I have removed the SSP but still use ECT always on Mod, Sprint Booster set to Sport level 8 and have my Ovtune set to 1.05.1 87octane base. My cruise works fine. Tires are 265/75/16 Dura Tracs -C load. Cruise works well with slight weight, (Canopy, Sliders) also works well when hauling a fully loaded Four-Wheel Camper (last weigh in at the scales was like 7500lbs). Cruise also works well towing a large utility trailer or Boat. Have you updated to O4B04? (the TSB) I was O4B03 stock and hesitated because I hate going to the dealer but I ended up doing it myself and I think it really made a big difference. Being O4B04 also allows you to try out Ovtunes Latest tunes since that's what his Test Vehicle uses. With all that being said...It seems like everyone of our trucks behaves differently even if they are the same year, make and model. What works for me may not work for you.
