I’ve always hated this rule. Sort of. Because it prevents discussions that are important and directly related to what we all enjoy.

What I am grateful for is the lack of the cesspool these conversations often devolve to. Believe me when I say managing them sucks the life out of you as you watch people you know are reasonable turn into complete dicks.
Then, people join just to be complete dicks. They have no interest in anything but the politics.

So while I would prefer if there could be civil conversations about charged topics, my first hand experience demonstrates that once you go down that rabbit hole, things change and not often for the better.

And yes, I am occasionally guilty of sharing my opinion on those things here. :D

Hey don. Do you know if you need the fancy new license to purchase ammo? I was unable to buy a firearm from somebody on here becaise mine has the "federal limits apply". Luckily i had an id without it. Curious if its the same for ammo

The dictator at the dmv told me that I would need the new "California real i.d." in order to purchase ammo. But I never verified this :notsure:

Correct me if I’m wrong, RealID is not needed, July 1st backgrounds is required. Federal limits applies = can’t enter federal buildings without a RealID. Just Government ID with additional documents such as a passport or birth certificate in lieu of RealID and background check as of July 1st.

From what I know and read, you will need a Real ID to purchase ammo, UNLESS you also have another form of ID like a passport handy. If no Real ID and a passport or birth certificate, you should be good still.

You are correct. REAL ID not needed if you have a non expired passport or a birth certificate to accommodate your non real ID. California :annoyed:

its literally not hard to get a RealID, then you dont have to do a ton of extra work traveling and buying ammo.

I was in and out of my appt in 30 min and received my REALID quickly.

    Painless.

Yup. My ID expired in May, figured I would get it taken care of as I travel a ton domestically and don't want to take my passport everywhere. With an appointment and correct documentation less than 30 minutes. New ID arrived 2 weeks later surprisingly.

Annnnddd it’s going to be a mandatory license by the end of 2020 anyways from what it sounds like. Might as well get it done now. With that being said.... I still need to get mine...:anonymous:
