TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Time to bust out the Dremel if we need to change the output hole. These blowers are a one piece design and not a two like the previous gen 1 design of the TRD supercharger, so changing the bottom portion is out of the question. We could only modify.

 

Yes, it is the better design. Only reason I was liking the roots design is because with a twin screw it will be a lot quieter. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I do like hearing the blower scream right now with the roots design.

What a doucher. He really is his worst enemy. I wonder if you could source the exact whipple he is using, then just try and make your current blower parts fit it. Probably not, because I’m not sure of the idler setup but it would be interesting.

 

That's what happens when you are a toolshed. Your stuff gets tampered with or gets sold off in favor of moving on to bigger and better ventures.

I would imagine it doesn't, it is nice don't get me wrong, but the fact he is not willing to Innovate or to be flexible and wheel and deal with us makes him get left behind real quick.

Yes, and if we could make a template that would be fine. The only problem would be if we had to add material I think it would be one of those things where we would want to go through a shop where they fix the output and install the rotors.

 

I agree, I love the loud whine. Ill call Whipple one day and ask. Id rather have the intake hole facing the front rather then the back. With the idlers and crank pulley Ill get all new so I can sell my blower as a complete kit. probably get an ATI super dampener crank pulley

What we would really need is to obtain a proper computerized measurement of the inside dimensions of the SC housing for the rotors so we know how much space we are working with. From there we would need to source a machinist who is worth a damn and is willing to design a set of twins screw rotors from billet aluminum which would fit the housing. If we got enough people on board with wanting to change the rotor pack I would imagine we would be able to get a substantial savings in $$$.

 

No. Sorry! Only engine crank. But you may still want one of those to go with your S/C pulley as they do have a mating relationship that the machinist would want to know about.

 

I used to own a ATI super damper pulley. On my LS engine. Woo those things are awesome!

 

Yeah I looked it up a while back so that would work good with the 6 rib whipple pulley. at least I think its 6 rib

I believe I have my old accessory engine crank pulley sitting in my garage actually, so at this juncture all I would need is the secondary SC drive pulley. If someone has a spare lying around or has their engine all torn apart with no idea when completion would be, I do know a few machine shops around here which would be willing to grind out some new pulleys for real cheap if we GB!

If someone has a SC drive pulley it would be great if they could send it your way, or even my way and we could get some new pulleys created! It's good to know you are close to them.

@Athlaos had tried an grippy SC pulley and it munched his belt really fast. Now, that could be because it’s so small.

 

No I mean, its considerably less. They just didn't want to advertise it.

 

Mine were custom grinds from Kelford. Intake and exhaust. They may have just exhaust cams available? That requires a LOT less work.

You'd have to contact them for "custom" grinds, as that is all they will do for us. As a middle eastern supplier has rights.

Even if multiple people from this forum all used the same s/c specific "custom" grind, they would all still have to be requested as such.

 

Should some of my friends and I get the money together to get a CNC machine, we'd be able to make those.....Hmmm
