I say make an offer on the white Tacoma, and go from there.White is the best color of all,and even better when you live in a state that hits 118 in the summer.

I would love a 16+, but those are above 25K for sure. I can wait for the right one.

Didn't say you should buy one. Just stating you wanted a 2nd gen, but listed a 3.5 motor. No Bueno.

I was on my way to buy a 2009, and they sold it before I got there.
I'm considering something less than 130K miles.
How long are the automatic transmissions lasting?

With normal use a long time. They put these on older v8s and super charged v6s.

Pricey for a '05 prerunner with 173k miles. Save and spend more for a nicer one with lower miles.

Also, many TW members have reported that their '05-'06 headgasket went right at or very near 173K miles.

I am kinda on the same page. Possibly gonna grab a 13-15 by the end of this year. Can someone confirm that the rust issue has been fixed in the 2012 year model and up?

pretty sure it has. Just check it out good underneath before you buy. You can use a professional rust proofing company like KROWN annually to 100% protect the truck from future rust. Is is money well spent if you plan on keeping the truck for a very long time. I have a 2010 in MA with barely a speck of rust on the frame.

I agree with those who suggest going 4WD. Better safe than sorry.

It might behoove you to do a bit more research in this or other forums on the gas mileage comparison between 4x2 and 4x4 vehicles.

You'll definitely see a bit of a hit MPG-wise with a 4x4. How big that decrease is however, depends on the driver.
