One of the zippers on my rear window jumped a tooth a while back. Anyone had that happen before and how did you fix it?

The way it is currently I can't completely undo the zipper as the end teeth don't line up.

I saw some videos that suggest using pliers to completely remove a few teeth to reset the zip, but I don't know about all that. How would I prevent the zip from coming off itself in the future.

anyone with a 2nd gen mind getting me a height in the softopper/bestop? looking for a measurment from the top of the bed ridges to the bar if that makes sense.

How easy are these to pop on/off without folding to the front? Im wondering if my dirtbike could be put under one but since the tire goes up against the bed i couldnt have it folded up there.

No measurements needed. Unless you have a 50cc pit bike there's no way it'll fit under. Even a pitbike may have to fold the handlebars down lol.

To remove without folding, I've never tried. I don't think that would work too well since it isn't rigid. It would probably twist & fold like a pretzel if you tried to remove it while deployed.

The bike won’t fit, and it’s been done before without any issue to just fold down the topper to haul a bike.

Also it would be more work to remove it without folding it down. It’s not that hard to fold it down and would take less work than if you were try to remove it.

You caught me as I was tinkering with it.

36.5" bottom of bar to top of bed ridge.

A kid's Big Wheel will probably fit... dirt bike... no

I don’t know if any topper/camper shell that high to fit a bike under it. Also it would have to be tall enough for you to walk it up the truck.

Speaking from experience of loading my bike or picking up other bikes and hauling it in the back of the truck.

Get a enclosed trailer if you want to haul a bike and have it covered.

Hence why i was curious if i could squeeze it under the softopper to fold/move while loading/unloading.

I dont even want to use my trailer now

Edit: im not worried about the bike being covered. Just wanted to be able to store gear back there and keep it dry if it started raining while driving and gain back interior cab space

Short Softy search substantially satisfied via Tacomaworld Truckee topper trip

    or

A half ass trip report about buying a used Softopper

    ----

    I bought a used Taco.

It had a Bestop on it.

I told dude to keep the Bestop because, as us ST owners know:

So I was looking for a used ST.

@tacouk had one for sale in Truckee.

Truckee is an approximately 800 mile round trip from me.

So I went to Truckee. It took 2 days.

Along the way I TW expressed some shit to Sacramento. Looking like Jed Clampett:

Then I met some friends I used to work with for dinner in Rancho Cordova (I'm the dead sexy dude on the right):

Then I crashed at my buddy's house in El Dorado and woke up at 0430 to meet David (tacouk) and his lady in Truckee at 0630 to do the deed.

Deed done, I ate breakfast at this old restaurant in downtown Truckee (check out the cool old Bronco, too):

Then I went dirt road exploring in the Tahoe and Plumas National Forests (always travel with a Gazetteer):

Then I had to take an emergency shit and had to use a pit toilet which I am terrified of. I hovered over it so the shit monster lurking in the depths couldn't rip my dick off:

With my dick still attached, then I saw this mountain (Lassen Peak):

Then I saw this lake (Whiskeytown Lake with Shasta Bally in the back):

    And then I came home.

And then I put my new-to-me ST on.

    The end.

    Continued from above

    @tacouk

    ST glamour pics:

Note that this is a 3rd gen topper on a 2nd gen, seems to fit quite well. The rear window is a sloppy fit but I actually don't run with a rear window on it so I don't care.

Also I came up with a way to roll the sides up in Safari mode that should appeal to people's OCD.... get a 6' long 3/4" diameter piece of plastic pipe, install a screw on snap on each end lined up with the first and last snap on the ST side panel. Snap the pipe onto the panel and roll the panel up nice and tight.

    Engage Safari mode!
