Gas gauge was still coming up in that pic. It was sitting just off the E line. Only thing I did differently for this tank was put my skid plate back on after having it off for 3 months. Cant imagine it had that much impact on mpg...

Flushed out the evaporator and lines in preparation for the new compressor, condenser, and receiver. I captured the fluid in a bucket and poured it into this glass to look for any contamination. It changed the color to amber. The only thing I can see a couple of little specs in the bottom. No metal shavings were present in the old compressor.

It's hot outside today. I'm pulling a vacuum on it while I cool off inside. Hopefully, it holds a vacuum and I don't have any leaks.

Put in a Voltage boosting fuse to charge the AGM properly.
Then changed the factory 12v plugs for a Blue Sea dual USB and a nicer locking 12V plug.0621191343.jpg

3Rz with a 4:30 gearset/5 Speed helps. Also running stock sized tires at the moment.

It wasn't long - as is typical for us - before we stopped to take in the views. Running along a ridge, we'd already forked off of Corral Creek road - which was gated and locked - and were now following another road that might connect, if only there wasn't a locked gate somewhere along the way. Regardless, the views were some of the best we'd seen from Craig Mountain, a recent wildfire having cleared any tress that would have blocked the horizon.

Can you tell me about your voltage boosting fuse - why you need it, and how exactly it works (on a 1st gen)?

Also - just fyi on that Blue Sea 1016 USB charger - I was running the same one for a while and then found out it was causing tons of RFI with my radios (well, the ham and cb radios anyway). Might not be an issue for you, but just thought I'd let you know. Their 1045 version is better shielded and I've been running it for a couple years now with no issues.

write-up and results of my investigation here: Mod Wars - USB charger blocking Ham Radio Communication

New AC system held a constant -32 for over 3 hours. I went ahead and charged the system while the hoses were all hooked up. It took roughly 18 ounces of R134a without the compressor running. It should kick on tomorrow when I start the system.

Installed new headlights while I had easy access from the condenser installation.

Tomorrow I will install the radiator, belts, fan, coolant, and ATF. Hopefully, it will start and run by end of the day.

Have you considered writing up a build thread on here? Might be a good idea to gather up all the great info and progress youve made into one place for easy reference.

If they are to straight they wont load and your leafs dont absorb the impact, Bananas or boomeranged shackles solve that issue. Send me a pic, im working again this weekend but would like to hear about your trip soon.
