Ok, so with the 34R, the terminals are pos on the left, neg on the right, with the terminals at the back of the battery, like so:
    0a5a8a88_e62ec003d09480d886bcfb95d27a926e0d8c25c5.jpg

On the 35, the terminals are the same but they are at the front of the battery, therefore you need to extend the leads by about 6", if you flip the battery around(so that the terminals are at the back of the battery, then they are reversed, neg on the left, pos on the right. The 34(R or regular) is also just a stronger battery. Here are the specs:

    NONE.....yet!

WRONG! The 35 has the correct terminal setup. The 34 has the posts opposite the 35 series. The 34R has the same post configuration as the 35. That is what the R stands for "Reverse."

This is correct. A 35 series battery is a reverse terminal battery like the 24R that comes in the Tacoma. The only difference is the size. A 34 series battery is standard post like a 24 that has been around since the 60's. It would be nice if they put the "R" designation on all batteries that have reverse terminals, but they only do it on battery sizes that are built both ways. Kind of confusing. I sell GM parts and you wont believe how many different battery sizes they use. Between the side post batteries and the new european style top post batteries that they are using now, we have to stock about a dozen different sizes. I believe Toyota for the most part uses two sizes, the 24R and the 35. I could be wrong about that. They may have added some new sizes on some of their newer models.

My battery called it quits on me today also, went to autozone to get an optima, and the dumbasses at autozone gave me the wrong size, it's too small, look at my pictures.

Nice! If it lasted 6 years, Then id say that it did its job very well! They say the life of the battery that was originally in the tacoma is only about three years. So with the optima you got Three extra years. I think im gonna like this battery:D
Truck starts up like a champ!

Yeah I don't run a lotta electronics or really put too much strain on the battery. It definitely did its job well, just crapped out on me. Luckily I was around the corner from my buddy's house. However, all day I was running errands all over SD. good timing I guess. Anyways only reason I went w/ the Die Hard is cuz of the better warranty. that and Autozone didn't have my red-top in stock

Couple shocks, some old tires, and a bad paint job
Red Top - Start up power
Yellow Top - Running electronics, lights, etc.

Only problem that I have seen regularly is the Red tops can be hit or miss. What I mean by that is, you will often get a battery that doesnt hold a charge within the first week to month and others that have had no problem and have been used for years.

Also you can mount these batteries upside down if you wanted which is great.
