209 TACOS - B/S and shenanigans

Hopefully some of that has been cleared by now... otherwise...

 

Ive done mine on my truck before, just make sure the tire is off the ground at full droop. Loosen collar and crank on it. But thats with fox not sure about ads.

 

So, lets talk solid (front) axle swap, 5VZ-FE, and 1st Gen Tacoma E'locker (rear) axle to a 2nd Gen 4 Runner. Anyone have experience with this? (Or know someone that does)

Nothing actually happening with this yet, just looking at ideas.

I have SASed a couple 2nd gen(90-95) 4runners. And swapped a 3.4 into a 93 4runner. The rear axle swap will be a piece of cake. I would convert to rear leaves while doing it.

The only real technical parts are wiring the 3.4 to the 4runner body harness, and swapping the oil pan to a t100 pan so that there is room for the front axle to compress.

You can buy a standalone harness to run the locker or just do what the rest of us do and just build one. Just depends on how much time you want to spend on it

 

Should mention that if you are planning on running big tires, the elocker wont hold up. You need a locker with a beefy carrier like a detroit or arb.

 

Looking at no larger than 35s

 

You should be fine. I personally would just regear and lock the 4runners stock rear diff if its a v6 and sell the elocker.

As for the motor swap, go on ebay and buy a EWD for the year 4runner you are swapping into. Most of the tacoma’s wiring diagrams are already online.

Getting that shell sold is a big deal. I totally get it. Wish Cameron could come with us tomorrow, but let's hope he sells the shell.

Both of them are stopping by on the way home from vacation. One dude is from Santa Cruz and stopping by on the way home from Tahoe, and the other dude is from somewhere in the bay stopping by on his way home from Yosemite. The Santa Cruz guy wanted to come check it out on Friday but was passing through while I was working.
