So we got a deal too good to pass on a snugtop XTR shell for the DC SB 03 Tacoma. It has those tub rails built in from the factory. Does anyone know if there are any crossbars that are in line with it? Think FJ cruiser roof rack bars or Nissan Frontier tube roof rack style. We can find some Yakima mounts that latch on top of the bar but ideally, we were trying to find something that doesn't increase the height (so that if we put a roof rack on over the cab, they are similar in height).

Did you ever figure this out? I got an XTR on my 07' DCSB. My dad just got a new rig so I was going to take the cross bars off his Nissan Xterra. Another thread I found mentioned the XTR is short for Xterra because the tubes on the rack are the same dimensions.

Reviving this thread rather than posting a new one. Has anyone had success finding crossbars that fit on the snug top xtr? Mine is for an 04 DCSB and I cannot find anything to solve this with exception of fabbing my own. I looked into FJ/ Nissan Frontier or Xterra crossbars but I can't find their dimensions online. Anyone?

I bought my XTR way back in '05 and was always leery about the idea those tubes are bolted into fiberglass. The way they're bolted in makes me feel they're not strong enough for anything serious being anchored to them. Right?

I wouldn’t think they’re too strong but probably just as strong as anything else that goes on a fiberglass topper unless you get the sportsman package which makes the topper twice as thick

I used them quite often by grabbing onto one, putting one foot onto the rear tire and lifting myself onto the tire to detail the roof and I'm 230lbs. They've handle that well, but somehow I feel having stuff anchored to them up there fighting windage at freeway speeds and such seems like hanging a 50lb. picture on drywall without sinkers.

What did you find? A pair I’m looking for said they were 33.75 from inner black Circe to inner black half circle (distance of interior bar to bar on roof rack) my XTR is 29.25 so I’m looking at doing some cutting and grabbing if I go this route

They were ~<34" from the inner half black circle as you mentioned and the distance between bars on my XTR is ~34" so they should work.... Luckily they're free, I just need to get them shipped to me so I'll know for sure in a few weeks.

I should be picking up a set tomorrow too. I have a first gen dcsb so my bars are pretty skinny but should be able to fab them. Found my set an hour away for 40 so not too far off from you :)

Right on! How are you planning to fab them?

Check this out. Bolts on the are a T20 to secure the clamp to bar and a T25 to tighten the c clamp. Just unscrew them, pop off the plastic and plastic hole cover and cut to size, bed liner them to match the topper bars, drill new holes and reinstall. They’re actually fairly heavy duty compared to what I thought. As long as I don’t screw up the cut I think I’ll be pleased. upload_2019-6-19_20-31-35.jpg

What did you use to cut them down to size to get a clean, straight cut? like a chop saw?

Finally finished my setup. For the second gen, the spacing between the XTR tubes was 33 3/4 inches and the length of the Xterra crossbars was ~34.5 inches. Used a portaband to cut them down and only had to drill one new hole on each side which I threaded and they fit perfectly. Hopefully this information will help the next person who searches. Wouldn't rely on them for anything over 200 lbs but it's a good setup for ladders, skis, bikes, or a roof box.
