A pinhole in the exhaust would make noise and a black spot spot, dont see it causing an o2 code though. You can cheat a failing cat with a spark plug non fouler because less exhaust gas goes past o2 sensor. I'd think a pinhole would fix the truck, not break it. Has dealer even mentioned trade assistance? Sounds like something whack going on and I'm surprised a good customer would be put through that but I also know toyota handles aftersales quite differently from the auto manufacturer I work for which is sad

Never heard of trade assistance, this truck (actually both trucks) are lease units. Maybe I should ask Toyota canada for a different lease?

Manufacturers can offer to help you into another truck without a "buy back" and it can be the best option for all parties. Might be worth asking toyota customer service for help getting you into another lease.

Well tomorrow the truck goes back in for more testing. If your counting this will be 5th visit or this issue.....I hear circus music playing in my head again.....
So they are hooking up there computor that records everything going on as they drive it and when it throws the code they say they can tell where the problem lies.....I'll keep breathing however.

The end? Today after 7 weeks the dealership called me with this information.
Toyota engineers had the dealership check the wireing from the ECU to the o2 sensor. It checked ok. The engineers then told the dealership to take out the 02 sensor they replaced on the first repair try and take one out of a new truck sitting on there lot. The dealership did just that and they drove the truck all afternoon and the code did not re appear. It appears the replacement 02 sensor they replaced 6 weeks ago never did work properly from the start.(so they think). Now they want me to drive it and see if the code comes back. 7 weeks to determin why this truck kept throwing a "slow 02 sensor reaction code" Never in my vehicle buying history have I experienced quite a thing like this. Hopefully this was the issue and I can now actually enjoy driving my truck..............

Fingers crossed man it's been a bumpy ride so far but hopefully will get better! Has the wife been letting you drive the other one a little bit atleast?

I haven't even rode in her truck yet, probably the same ride as mine hey! Hahaha.
Yes it looks like its fixed! Drove 2 days now and no check engine lights, yaaa. So the very first part they changed (02 sensor) was bad right out of the box. Now I wonder if the exhaust manifold they changed really had a pin hole in it??
Either way, I still really like the truck and I can honestly say, the Tacoma hands down is better than the Tundra they gave me to drive. Hey thanks to all that responded to all my drama on this issue, you all gave me more support than Toyota Canada gave me......
    Cheers!

Sounds like my old 350z. Replaced all the sensors, then had to replace the ECU to resolve the issue.

Glad to hear its fixed & yea sometimes things are bad right outta the box. Its happened to me with a fuel pump & started a tear down of the fuel system until I figured it out. Anyways finally enjoy the truck & have fun in the snow up there this winter!

Well today I got a call from Toyota Canada customer service and she asked if everything was good and that they sent me a credit for $200 to use at my local dealership. Thought that was pretty good and I never heard of a car manufacturer doing that before!

The least they could do is upgrade to the best extended warranty.

You 3% of your vehicle warranty over that month, and on a lease, you lost 3% of that too.

Come to think of it the warranty does not benefit you does it? Never leased.

Well, its back. PO13c code all over again. Just seems strange that out of the thousands of 2018 tacoma trucks out there just mine has this issue????? I have now only 7000 km on truck too...

Its never came on with any particular movement of the foot feed, random moments it comes on. It came on a few times now and I clear the code and it will be good for 4-5 weeks and back it comes. We don't have any lemon laws in Canada and we have no recourse to get a new truck. Our laws are very weak on buyers......

Damn man. I hope they figure this out for you. I had an issue with my JBL system right off the lot. Got it fixed eventually, but it took quite a while.

Dropped off truck today for another round of tests. 1 year now that this issue has gone on for with Toyota scratching there heads. They say they have 3 new ideas to test, but would not indulge what those are. One thing about it is each time I get a loaner its something different and I get to know each model as we go!!!
