Gardening Thread - Show me your gardens!

A couple of years ago I watered my garden really heavily because we were going away for the weekend and it was supposed to be hot and dry. Turned out that we actually had some really big thunderstorms move through that dumped something like 3-4 inches of rain. Got home to garden beds that were mostly mud for a couple of days, lol.

This is the second year for 0 blooms on my green beans. No added nitrogen and the squash and cucumber in the same bed are blooming. What's going wrong here?

 

How are your soil temps? If they're not warm enough (or if the beans don't get enough sun) they won't bloom. It's not always nitrogen-related.

 

It's been in the mostly mid to upper 80s here for weeks. We have had a shitload of rain tho. Too wet maybe?

Eh...that should be warm enough. The rain will actually help you out, if you've got too much nitrogen in the soil.
You could try adding some phosphorus and some potassium to see if that makes a difference, but use them sparingly.

Even without a lot of sun, they should still be putting blooms out, with how well they look to be growing.

 

Pick up a soil test kit, something like this https://www.walmart.com/ip/1601-Rap...hosphrous-and-Potash-By-Luster-Leaf/348606857 and see where you’re soil is at.

 

Yeah, I think I'm gonna give up and take a sample to the OSU ag extension office here for $10.

 

they usually leaf out then they start to produce flowers. Ours are never the same timing as cukes and squash.

also your package of what type of bean will tell you an approximated days they will mature...IE 65days... climbing beans usually take longer...

tomatoes plants have gone nuts...choking out the peppers and eggplant..

Just need a few hot days to ripen them up..I'll be loaded with maters..then cherry tomatoes, beef steaks..good salads ahead

 

That's a high quality problem!

 

After about 2 weeks no one wants to eat them anymore..lol. then I take them to work.

 

I do the same. Lots of maters and peppers.
