150 to paint you think? There is a surround for sale locally that is the wrong color. If I can get it painted for 150 I might actually do that.

Won't reinforcing one spot only cause a crack somewhere else?

I can't see them resizing future grills since the newer Tacoma's have TSS and I don't see that module working in a metal grill. The market for theses will only shrink as time goes on.

No one can be sure about it cracking somewhere else it will be highly less likely to crack reinforcing those locations. Safety sense or not the aftermarket grille market is not going to shrink that much people will still mod their trucks. Guys are already finding out the safety sense crap is shutting off after a little dirt it's only a matter of time before people just disable it all together at least the guys that wheel their trucks.

Good to hear and hopefully vendors continue supporting the older models. I made my comment mainly because I didn't think the market would continue to grow for metal grills but you would know better then me. Do you plan on attempting to adjust sizing on the recessed grill?

We don't I'll make a custom one with a smaller one if the customer requested it. It will have a unsightly gap that 90% of my customers would not like as 99% of them have not had this problem so it would be a request only grille.

Wow, dats messed up. I'd return that grill for a refund and demand the maker pay for my repairs.
Obviously ur not the only one.
Product liability comes to mind but after reading some of the responses so does super glue and bubble gum.

Gotta be an in-between that makes sense.. the existing grille is REALLY tight. My surround was showing visible warping after install due to the stretching. We're talking millimeters here.

On a side note I took a fresh black surround to the dealer to get repainted quicksand color.. $271 they want! That's the cost for those wondering..

We reduced them 0.040" last year and changed the powder so they didn't need as many coats for full coverage. Any more and they will have a gap. Bare metal they have a 0.080" gap all the way around 99% of our customers will never have this happen as they are mostly on the west coast. So the 1% that lives in these extra cold areas back East can request a smaller shroud if they like but it won't be standard.

It they can use the fiberglass kit to make it stronger.

Putting the oem grill back on might allow the gap to close up and not be noticeable.

Looks like that grille was screwed onto the fascia. Even if you put the OE grille back on, the dealer is going to remove the grille and see the screw holes on the polyurethane.

Clearly the two materials expand and contract at different rates.

Now I understand why my Made in China faux Pro grille leaves such gap between the grille and the surrounding fascia.

If it’s not already there, maybe a note in the product page to inform them the possibility of this happening in colder climates.

Also, wouldn’t a smaller insert (0.080) with a rubber trim edge allow for expansion AND improve the looks of the gap? Best of both worlds.

You have awesome products but your response comes off as more of an “oh well,” if you don’t like it then don’t buy our products. I probably miss read the tone or at least certainly hope I did.
