My favorite though is when you're asking say $650 for an item that's worth $900 (I typically price things better than fair just to get them gone), and it goes like this:

"Will you take $300?"
"No, the least I could do is $575"
"How about $325?"


At that point I usually counter with:
"How about $600?"

 

Or when they are selling a taillight and refuse to ship it. Stop being a dick and put that shit in a box you lazy POS.

 

Same with me. Generally when I’m selling something, I’m essentially giving it away at the price I’m offering. If a person low balls my already low balled price, I add inflation for dealing with them.

 

So how much do you want to sell me your wheels/tires for then?

But is it really an asshole move to ask for a lower price? I don't thinks so. Especially when most people aren't like Dave. They buy something at a certain price and then think that it has somehow magically acquired more value by sitting around or that it hasn't depreciated at all by being used. That's the real ass hole move.
I'm not saying I do it all the time. If you post some thing at more than fair price, I will just say ok. But if your asking to get almost what you paid new out something you've used (even if it is "like new"), I'm gonna try to haggle. And in that situation, that is my go to line.

 

I always do the CL haggle. That line I quoted earlier about dale earnhardt mugs... I use that one all the time.

Tim, I’ll trade you all the mugs for your wheels. I’ll even throw in some Honda Civic parts to boot.
