I think the roof racks make trucks look like they've gotta reverse mohawk. :) Other than that, I still can't decide if I really want one or not. Function over form...I've read the factory rack is the best one out there. I'll probably end up getting one if the true need ever comes up.

OP - good looking truck and thanks for the write up!

A few mods here and there and counting....
The holes are pre-drilled and tapped from the factory and length wise, it wouldn't work but who knows. If you have the fab skills, go for it. :D

Great job on the roof rack and pics! I am thinking about this mod. Wondering how noisy the rack is when trucking down the superslab?

Also great choice in color...Pyrite rocks!:)

...What material are the cross bars made out of ? The roof support is weak imho and in a rollover crumples easily. I would get the roof rack just for the roof reinforcement factor.

Be sure to use the Tq wrench as indicated in the instructions. The gasket material is very particular to under or over tightening.

Looks great, only issue I had with the install was the holes on the front bracket were just a hair to close to get both bolts to engage w/o crossthreading one or the other. I drilled out the holes one drill bit size larger and it went in like a champ.

You guys are right about the crossbar noise. Even at 40mph its pretty loud, stowed I don't notice anymore noise than stock.

Do you have to turn the bars side way to use them or could you just leave them like normal while using them?? If you can then, you would not have to worry about the wind noise!

The "roaring" noise they make (with the bars across the truck) at any speed is still less that what the Yakima rack I had on made, and with them stowed, it is almost unnoticeable.

I do not mean to hijack this thread, but if you do not have any use for the roof drip moldings and still have them, I lost both of them and am looking to buy a set.
