1997 t4r has super duty axles, 5.13s locked front and rear. 3 link front with 14" kings. Rear 63s.

I want a 30x50 or 40x40. 2 Roll ups on one side and one on the opposite side one in the center to create a breeze way kind of. Tall enough for one lift on the side and enough room for all my crap

I'd like a 30x50 too but The price difference from 28x50 to 30x50 was quite significant at the place i talked to... Something about once the "short end" hits 30' or larger they consider it commercial and charge more. I was also told it's "illegal" to have a "commercial mechanic garage" on a residential property and i might not be able to get it permitted in my county... But 28x100 is fine... WTF! LMAO. I never really looked into this so i dont know how true it is... But i own a little over 2 acres so i have the room. And i contacted 3 different places about the steel garages and this place had the best prices as long as i dont go over 28 foot on the short end. So I'll stay at 28' max LOL

I already have a couple sheds on my property, 1 is a workshop for woodworking and household repairs, and another conex for storage, and don't plan to keep anything parked in the garage, it'll be just for working on 1 vehicle at a time...

With no junk stored in it, no parked vehicles or boats or lawnmowers etc... Just working on 1 vehicle at a time and having ample room for tools... What do you think would be the minimal comfortable size?

I was thinking about a 35' x 40' myself, with doors on both ends so it's a drive-through set-up with a covered slab on the other side for washing stuff and with a 12' extension on the opposite end from the house for a 10'x12' lawnmower/tool storage space, a 12' x 20' shop space (for storing tool boxes, shop equipment, and a clean place to build engines, fab projects, etc...) in the center with another 10' x 12' room on the end for an upright 220v air compressor and general storage. The 12x20 shop space and the 35x40 vehicle area would all be air-conditioned. ;)

If I sold this place and had a new house built, that would be the cornerstone where the floor plan begins. If I had to for permitting reasons, I could live with 29'x40'. Of course a vehicle lift would be nice (especially outside where I could pressure wash the bottoms of the vehicles more easily) but realistically, I don't think I'd have the budget for it.

Ball joint spacers and lift blocks, am I doing it right?

2 post lifts are pretty cheap these days.

Well, fudge buckets. My dream of a 35x13.50-15s on the OGT are dead. Interco informed me due to industry issues, their development has been put on the back burner indefinitely. So now I'm in a quandary: Do I go with a set of 35x12.50-15 Boggers, or stick with the original plan B, a set of 36x12.50 TSL-SXs. The Boggers are $20 a tire cheaper, but I know from experience they love to eat drivelines. Trouble is, I'm not sure going to a 36 even with slightly less aggressive tread will be any gentler on the driveline.

    @allenfab , any thoughts?

Why stick with Interco? Seems like they've been nothing but problems. Maxxis makes a nice tire.

    Interco doing Interco things...

You know my sentiment towards Swampers. You're trying to jump through hoops to stay with a tire that simply doesn't come in a size that you're happy with. Look into giving another brand a chance. Hell, you even said how impressed you were with how the runner performed with whatever tires you had on it at the time at Citrus, and they were a very mild tread.

Huh? My 33x13.50 LTBs were awesome off road. I never really had any problems with them other than they rode a little rough on the pavement, but then all of that wasn't the tires either. Maxxis is way too expensive for me anyway. :anonymous:

They were Nitto Trail Graps, to me, a very good tire, but still pretty much a generic M/T as far as tread goes. Yup, I know you dislike Swamper (bias plies) because they ride like crap on the road. I was actually asking whether you thought the insane grip provided by the Boggers would put more strain on the drive line than the extra inch of tire height with the 36" TSL-SXs.

Anybody else with any insight chime in if you feel to.

Maxxis can be pricey but any good tire is pricey. Jon still work for 4WP?

In this case, or any case really, I'd go with the taller, less aggressive tire 10 times out of 10 over a smaller and more aggressive tire. A taller tire is exponentially more important than aggressive tread when talking off-road performance. As for the extra strain with one versus the other, I think it's a push.

Looking to stick with bias plies. Otherwise, I'd, with no hesitation, go with a 35x12.50 Trxus MT (a taller version than what's on the T4R ATM). They have a lot of sipping which would probably be good on wet slick rocks and the tread is a soft enough compound to probably be considered a "sticky" tire.

During a conversation with Joey at Interco, he pointed out something else: a lighter tire will put less strain on the axles. Unfortunately, the 35x12.50 Boggers are 4lbs lighter than the 36x12.50 TSL-SXs. As it sits now, the Bogger 35s have weight, price, and less potential clearance issues. The only thing the 36 SXs have in their favor is that they would be more laterally stable in off camber situations and an extra .5" of ground clearance.

I don't know what it is about me, but the more advantages stack up in favor of the Boggers, the more I want the SXs. :frusty:

Sticky tires are usually super expensive and not all bias ply are sticky. Plus my radial Toyo tires went where you had to stop and lock it in 4wd to make :luvya:
