What size bolts did you use to mount the license plate back on? It looks like the bolts I got are too long

BSM Works perfect. Parking sensors towards the rear seem to be less sensitive then stock

Interesting. It's too bad more companies haven't figured out how to incorporate them.

Do you guys think it’s worth the time to drill and make these other two bolts fit. I got a 2 gallon rotopax and 5lb propane tank mounted on my swing arm

Question for all who has metal(al, st) rear bumpers AND parking sensors in it: do you have/had any issues when parking?

    Not much stock left.
I have the C4 HC Rear Bumper and have had no issues with the sensors.

I have a Mobtown Offroad bumper with a swingout. After little adjustment to the sensors, they perform perfectly fine ( plugs in horizontal orientation, not vertical. For some reason it made the difference).

    Aloha from Maui,

My first post on Tacomaworld! I have a 2016 Tacoma Sport and I rent it out to visitors. What I got from the renter was that it got backed into at the car wash, the back corner of the bumper is missing. Whether it was a good call or not I’m not sure, but what’s done is done and I’ve settled with him for $1,000. To avoid an insurance claim.

I have a great, inexpensive mechanic, though he’s pretty old school. I’m looking for a reasonably priced steel bumper that I can bolt on without any cutting or crazy bullshit. No offense, I love all the trucks on here, but I just want to get something sturdy and basic. I’m not a mechanic or mechanically inclined. I’d love to keep it under a grand with installation. The lower the better. I realize the BSM sensors probably won’t work. As nice as that would be to have them, I don’t really care.

Grateful for any suggestions. I’m so new to this my first move was to look on Amazon, but it looks like the experts were here. I’d like to have everything together for my mechanic so he can just take the thing off and I can drive off and not have to deal with anything else after.

    Welcome to TW!

Unfortunately, $1000 is not enough for any bumper that I have seen, but you might want to look up OCF, a tubular steel bumper, a little over $1000 I think, and your bsm sensors "might" work

How about this one? I watched the install video. This looks straightforward enough. It covers everything except the BSM sensors which aren't featured on the demo vehicle, the presenter says "they can be switched over" at 7:55

I've owned this truck for less than six months and haven't had the opportunity to order any parts yet. Just did a google search on Extreme Terrain and they seem really reputable. Less than $400 with shipping would keep me well under budget too. They are even saying the BSM would work, crazy.

Anybody have experience ordering from extremeterrain.com ? I'm about ready to click buy.

I have No experience with them. But if you like the design and saving money, just go for it.
Now, keep in mind that 3mm is not really a heavy duty design. More like heavy sheet metal, not steel plated bumper.
Also, looks like it ready for back up sensors, and does NOT have BSM support.
So, my opinion is, this might be a good and cheap alternative for bumper replacement, if you like it's design.
    Good luck!

    Edit. Welcome to TW

One more thing. Get involved in your community... Find your local area thread, and maybe ask around if someone has a stock bumper laying around and are willing to part ways with it :notsure:

I've been wondering when a shop would finally just try making a pocket for the sensor. Makes total sense. I'll have to keep an eye on this, even though I've got my BSM and LA turned off. Can't stand all the truck's nanny functions (my first vehicle with auto locking doors! WTF, why?) I prefer to take my time and actually be aware of my surroundings, anyway.
