If I could do it over again I'd spend the extra money and mount the frame inside versus on top, but that means rolling down some metal on the hood and likely out of my skill set to DIY. This project was easy and I'm still very happy how they turned out.

Well, I just picked up a free color matched OR hood and V2.0 is in the works. This time I'm doing what I wanted to do in the first place and if I need to cut through any bracing I'm prepared to break out the welder for the cleanest look possible. Since I'm in no hurry to finish this project, and I have a fully functional hood, I'm going to take my time and roll down the edges and mimic something like my previous post. There will be no visible signs of rivets or the frame from the outside this time. Now the question is, what should I do?

I'm still thinking one large louver in the center would look pretty dope, and keep the edges rounded to match the flow of the hood better.

Have you considered mounting it on a matte black vinyl hood?

    Similar to this?

They do come without the logo and no need to worry about color matching louvers.

I’m thinking about painting the entire hood matte black, but we’ll see what it looks like after the new hole is cut and rolled. Option A right now is color matched hood with black louvers again, but I’m also considering having it all color matched.

I wouldnt do the whole hood matte black, just a patch similar to the vinyl or stripes.

Whole hood matte black looks like an aftermarket / replacement hood the owner was too cheap to spring for a repaint.

Well like I said, I’m not decided on anything at this point, other than I know a version 2.0 is in the works.

My car came with 4 hood vents, one of them directly over the intake air filter.

After washing the car, the intake air cleaner was pretty well soaked.

And water on the engine from the other 3 vents.

The answer? Just drive a different car now when it rains...

Why would they install a louver over the intake? The other three are fine, you should just block off the one somehow.

Why would they install a louver over the intake?

The hood is for the Shelby GT-H.

Originally the air intake was a stock Ford closed unit and therefore immune to water ingress.

The car has been updated to the Power Pack II, increasing horsepower and torque, but with the open air filter.

I'm thinking the exact opposite of what I have now, basically the area inside and including the tape.

Building a functional hood scoop tied directly Screen Shot 2019-06-22 at 10.44.02 PM.jpg Screen Shot 2019-06-22 at 10.43.46 PM.jpg to the air intake system would be a popular mod. RK Sport has an aftermarket hood (pics) with supposed functional hood scoop but if there was a way to modify the OEM hood and make a conduit directly to the air intake to serve as a true cold air intake but more importantly as an alternative to the snorkel. Could block the intake in the wheel well and protect the intake system from mud/dust and even water (can't image ever driving in water that would approach the top of the hood).
