Hell man I live in a cold-ass city and I run 0w40. And I'm looking at going to 20w60 in my car.

Same. I usually have about 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch in the bottom.

I shall run it a bit longer then. I’m glad I didn’t install the big mishimoto can I have. Thing is huge and would probably take 8 oil changes to fill it.

I'm in Igloo country and I still run 5w-30 :p. I doubt the 1GR cares much what oil is in there as long as it's well cooled.

Actually, I have been on 93 octane since I got the OV Tune last year. Unless there is an option for boost soon, my next mod will be porting and polishing my heads. I have seen a couple of videos that don't seem too hard but the third gen has all of the exhaust runners inside the heads and only a single port out to the down pipe. No headers are possible. This makes it very difficult so I contacted Stiegemeier and he wants $1400 for the job. While I have the heads off I plan on replacing all of the valves with titanium valves from the Lexus LC500. I bought 1 intake and 1 exhaust valve to make sure they are compatible and they are. This is great since I can get all 24 valves for just over $400 which is 10 times less than custom made valves. The intake valve is only 29 grams for the titanium valve while the steel valves are almost 50 grams each. By reducing the reciprocating mass by 40% it allows you to increase the red line to 7500 RPM without worry of valve bounce or valve flutter. The red line on the LC500 is 7300 RPM but it has higher compression so 7500 on the Tacoma should be safe. OV tune has already increased the red line to 6800 for the performance tune but I will be getting a custom tune for my set up. The following picture shows the titanium valves with the Lexus part numbers. I do not know if they are compatible with the 4.0 engines.

Well said. Thanks for the support of us boost heads. I'm betting a turbo option will be what's in store for 3rd gen guys.

Swapped out my 2.6 pulley tonight for a 2.5 and did some data logging with the new exhaust. Max air flow was 337g/s with 81*F ambient temps and i saw 9.9lbs on my boost gauge. Im 2200ft above sea level so that sounds about right. Very happy with how UCon is running the truck right now

Are you running a larger diameter intake?

Wow. Those numbers are good for that. Time for a 76mm buddy. I'm building a new intake now.

Im pretty happy with them! I was thinking the same thing. Been wanting to get a 76mm tb but URD has been out of stock of the adapter plates for a while now. Starting to explore other avenues to have an adapter made now but im not in too big of a hurry. I also have a 7th injector waiting to be installed, but i really dont want to change anything else right now. Gonna have to keep an eye on my AFRs looks like UCon is still adapting some..

What kinda intake you building? Tundra air box so you can rescale the MAF?

I’m gonna take it all the way before boost for sure. My target is 275 to the ground... time will tell if I’m over ambitious.

That would be impressive numbers for n/a! You gonna put it on the dyno once youve taken it as far as you can?
