Bought some seats for the truck recently. Then took a risk on these seat covers (no reviews) and now need to look for the proper adjustable headrest for one... also the truck was looking good today.AD29DEB7-A536-404C-ABDA-3064777A1218.jpg 380022B2-B07E-43C8-9901-4F9786A3D0F2.jpg E86B9DA4-6942-49E5-B2D1-D65420D8A83B.jpg

I'm guessing your high mileage has something to do with that. I am at less than 1/3 of what you are. I have enough play in the shaft to make me think just doing the tack weld will make a big difference. We'll see.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
That's what I used to get, the 95-97 trucks seem to have a tinny rattle and the later ones get more of a sloppy clunk

    Yes.

Though it also just makes that steering feel super direct. Like it took me a bit to get used to on the highway because if I looked out a side window I'd relax my hand and just the weight of it would shift the truck over haha

    Still nice though

Switched the mint condition passenger bottom cushion onto the drivers seat. Since I can keep my stock passenger seat, all I needed was a good condition drivers seat. IMG_20190623_154800192.jpg
That dark spot in the back is just the light hitting it weird. I shampooed this thing twice and vacuumed it several times. Even used an iron to get some of the tougher stains out.

Got around to changing the contacts in the starter. Originally hoped to do it without dropping the skids, but I finally realized that they would have to come off.

    20190623_124225.jpg

    Starter out...
    20190623_135646.jpg

Contacts weren't awful, but definitely needed some attention...
    20190623_140006.jpg

Plunger is definitely pitted pretty good...
    20190623_141132.jpg

One of the boots was the consistency of silly putty. It fell apart and stuck to my hands, the starter etc while removing. Gonna get one ordered before I get too much further...

    4 run, 2 don't
I've done the same in other cars; something about running the wires a certain way, zip tying them, and making sure everything is nice and tidy.

You always want to run the signal wire on the opposite end of any power cables to prevent interference/white noise.

Zip tying I did not do along the whole path just in points to not alow sag. I ran my power on the drivers side and my signal lines down the passenger side both amps are in the back seat as you csnt get back there anyways because of my cage

Yeah. I left it like that for easy access to one of the cables. Cold weather messes with my PLX gauge for some reason. My “fix” is to unplug then plug it back in and it usually works after that. It has a connection tucked into the hole for the swivel lever. So it’ll make it easier than before.

I really need to make it all right though. I think it’s because I use the add a circuits in the fuse box for power and ground them to a screw behind the kick plate. I just need to do some homework because I’ve never wired anything into the ignition/starter before. I have zero knowledge of electronics.

One other issue that’s plagued me is the boost controller flashes a random number intermittently. It’ll do it in vacuum and boost as well as when the key is on but engine not running. It’s weird and PLX customer support didn’t know what was going on. I’m hoping it’s something to do with the way it’s wired in.

PLX is weird. They offer cool stuff for decent prices but it’s all kind of cheap and half assed. I had to wire the daisy chain backwards for it to work. It’s what PLX told me to do. And someone else on here had the same issue. Didn’t work the way the directions instructed. Reverse it and it works fine. They had some really neat products they scrapped as well. I’m assuming they just sucked so they just kept the stuff that worked and got rid of the stuff that didn’t.

So I got in on the latest Waterport offer at Costco https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/costco-waterport-sale.606051/

I read through 24 pages of the original Waterport?Costco deal trying to find ideas how to mount it. Since it came with 3 different types of mounts and only 1 plate , I figured on fabricating an additional plate to have an extra option. I wanted to carry it in the bed area to travel and then attach to my roof rack or hitch when at camp.

So 22 of the original pages were 2nd gen guys trying to figure out how to mount to bed rails. I went with a blank canvas and thought what would a 1st gen guy do?

I had this stool already for general handy tasks, cut a pool noodle in half and ziptied on to legs. The rest is self explanatory.

It takes the weight well, no problem and less than 15 seconds I can mount the Waterport up on the rack or on hitch and have the stool for a small table or to reach up to the rack.
Best part is the cost was $1 for the noodle and .04 of zipties, since I had the stool already. It came from Harbor Frieght and was under $20 with the coupon for %20 off.

It started as a 'rattle' that I would feel/hear most on dirt but has progressed to where I could move my steering wheel about 1-1.5" before it would start the turn the wheels.

I would describe mine as a sloppy rattle.

I only drove it a little bit this afternoon but I can feel the steering is much more precise thru the potholes. :p

Holy shit, how thick are those brackets . Thought mine were overkill but you took it to the next level lol. You'll be surprised to find that unless you run it up to the d ring mount, it doesn't do much. Bedside still flexes.

How much dirt does it take to make a MAF sensor misbehave? Not much.

My Dad brought his truck over today. Very sluggish when cold, would barely accelerate, and hard starting when hot. Cleaned it and pulled the battery cable to reset the eng ecu parameters. Started immediately and ran perfect.
