Has anyone powder coated their Scs wheels? I hear mixed reviews with people powder coating wheels. Some say it weakens it due to the baking process. Can anyone confirm that with this particular wheel company. Thank you

Why do you want to powder them?

I got a set for really cheap but not a color I liked. Don’t want to go through the hassle of selling and buying a new set

Also the ray 10’s are hardly ever in stock and when they are the sell out quickly.

You should be fine if you don't go above 200 degrees Celsius. The wheels would have to be made of pretty crappy metal if that temp relieves any of the internal stresses

That makes sense. I also wouldn’t rule out just getting them painted, all dependent upon price quotes.

I will look into painting them as well. I also don’t mind paying alittle more as I hear powder coating will be more durable in the long run

It will run about 100 bucks a wheel most places.

Powder coating process is only 390 degrees for 10-15 minutes so if it causes damage to the wheels they are total crap and would fail anyway.

    I powdercoated mine.
Prep is key and their coating is a bi*#% to remove. Each rim was sandblasted down to bare then coated. I don’t think it weakens them, I’ve powder coated many wheels of the same alloy.

I had my stock OR wheels powder coated a year ago. Many gravel roads later, they look the same.

It’s my previous employer. They have a spray booth/oven that I’m lucky enough to have at my disposal. Just BYOP, bring your own powder:)

Vinyl letter insets for tailgate. Garmin CS60 GPS mounting. Other misc décor in the form of decals.
I had the alloy wheels on my '02 Tacoma SR5, and my level of satisfaction says I'd recommend it any time. I did the vinyl pieces on my '16 Off Road wheels and am happy with those. If/when the vinyl should fail on the '16, I'm quite confident that I'll powder coat them due to the satisfaction I had with the '02.
