Hey guys, quick question for you. Is this hole part of the manufacturing process or did it rust through ? It's irregular in shape, closer to the weld line then any other hole in the frame and it doesn't have a matching hole on the driver's side of the frame. It's about 11mm / 7/16" .
This is a 2008 access cab rwd 2.7litre manual . It's covered under the frame program and I am going to take it in to the dealer for assessment soon.
    Thanks alot in advance.

Holy f**k, look at the cam alignment hardware. How does this happen to a '16? OP do you spray that thing with brine solution daily?

It’s a 2008. At least that’s what is stated anyways.

    Yeah......

That hole is the least important issue there. The bottom of your truck looks like Titanic wreckage.

Thanks for the response guys. I live in metal's hell lol. Right on the Atlantic coast with lots of salt, snow and big temp swings.
I didn't see any other holes in a similar centerline location on the frame. If anyone is going under their truck soon and wouldn't mind seeing if they have that same hole I'd appreciate it .

I think my old frame had those holes. Beat it with a hammer and see what happens.

Sooner is better. Doesn't matter if that hole is a perf or drilled, that thing has been sadly neglected.

Hoping you are correct in the 'still covered' area of frames! :fingerscrossed:

I didn't realized that Rustoleum came out with the new paint color called Hammered Rust.

Does look like it was coated before. I forget if that has any bearing on anything else

Since the hole isn't supposed to be there and if it's bigger than 10mm it should pass their requirements for replacement. What does the other side look like? There has to be more with that amount of rust. Shouldn't be in just that location unfortunately

Take a hammer and a punch to the bubbly rust area near the cats. On mine, I looked everywhere for a hole. Couldn't find any. I started tapping near the cats and the rust started flaking away. I was surprised at how little effort to took to open up a hole. Just don't make it obvious that you punched a hole in it. When the rust starts flaking away in layers, you'll see what I mean.

I get what you're saying , I'm just cautious to encourage any holes myself.
