it's all good, those people care about all the wrong shit.

I took my truck out yesterday and ran a trail rated 5 with a friend who wanted to break in her new 4runner. I drove through everything without being very challenged and still had a great day

Never is a strong word for someone who seems to do a good job of self improvement otherwise :)

Okay, let me clarify some things.

    • I am trading someone a front 4.10 differential, and a rear 4.10 differential e-locker for their 4.88 gearset with e-locker.
    • However, my axle is not setup for an e-locker. This is why I purchased an E-Locker Axle Housing.
    • My existing non-ABS axle shafts will not work. This is why I purchased new ones from an ABS 4Runner.
    • The only cost to me is for a new axle housing, locker motor, the 4.10 gearset, and the axle housing.
    • Total cost for all of this is about $600 sans motor.
    • I was quoted roughly $4,000 to do a 4.88 regear in my stock front and rear 8.4” housing with an ARB pneumatic locker
    • Paying ~$600 > $4,000

Certifications dont mean anything. Just gives you the right to be a dick I suppose. The only weld test that matters is the one at your job interview.

it says more about them than anything they have to say about you ever will.

I post up with the opportunity to accept criticism where valid but some people just like slinging shit without offering any actual constructive feedback

Looks like a drag. This is my goto motion for most of my mig welding. Pic says vertical down, but I use it on everything. C'svertical-weave-bead-down.jpg

If I need to weld something thick, and carry a wide bead Ill do the cursive e/circle thing.

Im seeing little holes which means youre likely pulling the puddle. With flux core you have to push the puddle. If you pull you get slag entrapment which equals little holes. c5830cb68a1b2f5079f1d7b9aa4771b8.jpg

Edit. I had that backwards. Always pull with flux core/stick. Brain fart. Slag gotta drag.

Stupid as it sounds I've had the best luck watching the bubble in the back of the puddle and using that to adjust my speed or pattern. It depends on the material and thickness too.

If I'm welding something thinner to something thicker I'm doing a kind of z where I drag the puddle from the thicker side to the thinner one etc

You may be having trouble seeing the puddle judging by the S shaped weld. What hood are you using? And what number is the darkness of the lens? I use an 11, on the darker side but it works for me. My coworker uses a 9. I about went blind when I used his hood once. Most people use a 10.
