Not bad. Just run another bead next to it and sort of overlap. Helps you hold a straight line. Do that until the entire piece of tube is covered all the way around. Always chip the slag before you run another one.

It's no beauty queen but I'd likely trust it to hold some non critical stuff together. If you want to know what kind of penetration (nice) you're getting it can be worth cutting it perpendicular to the weld path.

Sometimes even great looking welds can be superficial and fail with MIG especially

I am elated. It all fits together just fine. You can use any ABS 8.4” axle shafts on an 8.0” e-locked housing.

2000 Tacoma 8.0” E-Locker Housing, 1999 4Runner Limited Axle Shafts, and the donor 4.10 differential.

Did you include the price of a new wheel stud in the $600?

Three new wheel studs. I don’t know what they were doing to get the third out but they bent one of them, and snapped off two of them.

I’m waiting on the measurements from @mechanicjon ’s buddy when he gets back from vacation the length of a true e-locker axle shaft. I was told while the 8.4” shafts will work, they are a tad shorter than a normal 8.0” e-locked axle shaft and can be a point of failure.

I know not to wheel into poop water or a highway median, however.
