I dont want to read through 50 pages so I apologize if my question has been covered. I installed a catch can back in 2012 and it works fine. But a buddy said placement is important. Mne is mounted pretty much right next to the engine where as most everyone is putting them more near the fender. Is temperature a big factor with these? Would moving it somewhere where it wouldn't be subjected to as much heat increase its effectiveness? And if so then does length of the lines matter?

I’m new to the catch can thing so I’ll add to your questions.
Thinking about freezing temps here would the height of the can matter?
Mine is higher than the Pcv valve thinking this may not be the best spot to have it?

I wouldn't think so since its supposed to catch the vapor and condense it back into liquid. Freezing temperatures shouldn't affect the operation of the can unless it fills all the way up allowing the liquid to run down the line. Even then does oil freeze? Of course I live in southern California so I have no experience with this, maybe someone back east will chime in with actual experience. I am pondering moving my can a little further away from my engine so it will be a bit cooler which in theory should aid in the condensation factor. Since no one has answered my question I guess I just have to move it and periodically check it to see if the level of oil increases or not. Either way in my opinion it is worth having one connected. I am sick of cleaning my throttle body to maintain a good idle.

Odd . Maybe because yours is a 2015. I didn’t have to go to smog shop and go through visual until 2014 and my make is a 2009. So maybe 2020 is when they’ll pop your hood. Some smog shops are lenient and but most are strict .

I've read through a bunch of these postings going back to 2012, but am curious where the hoses connect to the engine as no photos I've seen actually show that. Are you replacing the pcv valve with the catch can or it in series with the pvc valve? I'll admit I haven't popped the hood to look but any feedback would be appreciated.

I have no pics to offer, but catch cans are installed "in series" with the PCV.

Has anyone installed a catch can on a 2018 or 2019 Tacoma? I am planning installing one on mine. I had one on my 2008 and thought it was beneficial.

So this is what didn’t go back thru the intake after 3k miles.

    Pretty pleased with it.
I’ll be swapping my fuel line to hydraulic line soon.

So it’s been said that the oil will soften the fuel line.
Don’t want the lines to collapse.
Not sure how well the hyd line will work but we have drop pieces at work so it’s free.
I’m thinking it’s not going to be very flexible.
But it should resist oil breakdowns and won’t collapse.
