Big Bear wheeling is best during the winter when there's snow. Still fun the rest of the year but the trails are relatively short compared to what you'll find further east in the desert or in the Sierras. But, there are several in Big Bear and you can easily do a few or more in a day. There are a few worth doing though out there just to add them to your list...John Bull, Holcomb, Gold/White Mountain, etc

Sounds cheaper than buying a third from ECGS.

Is there enough room on the splined shaft for a spacer to push the steering wheel an inch or so out?

That would fit under your truck? Perches would be different.

Cuz I'm tall in the legs but not the torso so it would be more comfortable if the steering was a little closer when the seat is all the way back.

Thinking about trying an aftermarket hub and steering wheel and giving up the airbag

I’d be careful messing with the steering shaft. I was told it’s designed to break away in a collision so the wheel doesn’t impale you.

I'm talking about the splined end where the steering wheel attaches

    Ohh, I see.

You could maybe have something machined for that.

I had a rental car this week up in OR that had a telescoping steering wheel...I had no idea how awesome those were.
