:anonymous: Yeah I went a little over the top.

And no, the bedside does not flex - at all. Haha it is ridiculously stiff now.

For those wondering, you can use 8.4" ABS axles from a non e-locker axle housing on a 8.0" e-locked axle housing. I got these axle shafts from a 1999 4Runner Limited, and I am running them on a 2000 Tacoma axle housing.

Whether the non e-locked axle shafts are shorter than the e-locked axle shafts we will find out later. I am waiting on measurements from an e-locked axle shaft. I was told the 8.4" shafts are a tad shorter than the 8.0" axle shafts.

However everything spins just fine. Just need to press in some new wheel studs, two of them were broke off clean and one of them was bent.

Replaced my front bumper and tried to figure out why the front wheels "clunk" when I turn.
    I know my truck's not a 1st gen. If there's a thread for older trucks I haven't found it yet.IMG_6017.jpgIMG_6040.jpg

The steering stops on those IFS setups had little plastic caps on them, eventually they break down and fall off and the steering stop binds at full lock turns. If that's what is causing your clunk (it's pretty common on that era of trucks) put a little dab of grease on the steering stop and it should stop it. Just have to regrease it when you change the oil or about that often.

I keep about a 2 1/2 foot piece of 1 1/2 PVC pipe to slip over wrenches and ratchets. "cheater bar"!

LOL, I have had the same old piece of plastic pipe for probably 20 years.

Been looking at a 3rd gen 4runner for the wife and I have a couple of questions. I know that @turbodb has one and maybe he can answer. Is the faux wood trim removable in the interior? Also, is it possible to remove the lower exterior panels and leave it color matched? Faux wood trim and exterior panels like these...

Faux wood trim is not removable. (well, you can buy all new interior plastic to "remove" it, hahahaha)

Lower exterior panels are removable but leave holes (like the ones for the fender flares on an 01-04 Taco) all over the doors.

For that reason, I stayed away from Limiteds.

Perfect. Thanks. Have been looking but it seems like the limiteds are much more prevalent in my area. I prefer the solid color scheme and no faux wood (so does my wife), but it is proving hard to find one we both like. Thanks again for the input.
